For awhile now, this is something that I’ve been doing just about every day: rinse off a handful of broccoli florets or spinach, throw them into a Ziploc, and give them a minute in the microwave.
Anyone else do this? Is microwaving plastic (in any form) a bad idea, no matter the convenience? Any suggestions?

I don’t microwave ANYTHING in plastic. Just stick whatever it is you’re nuking in a bowl and a put lid on it-same result, but less likely to get some unwanted extra estrogen along the way.
I hear you guys. I suppose part of me has been hoping that bombarding a Ziploc baggie with microwaves for only sixty seconds is significantly less “bad” than flat out cooking in plastic, or even reheating in covered tupperware.
So I suppose this is what I’m really after: Anyone got any (plastic-free and super-convenient) tips for steaming vegs in the microwave?
I don’t have any hard science to back this up, but microwaving food at all rubs me the wrong way. I just can’t get clear of the idea that it is somehow damaging the nutrient content of the food.
birds eye makes steam-fresh veggies now in a plastic bag you just pop in the micro. maybe try them??
i mean they make mintue rice in a bag you pop in boiling water.

Yeah I haven’t used a microwave for anything besides water in months.
