Miami Vice

so who’s seen this movie? I saw it thursday night with my little brother. i would have seen it sooner, but he was on vacation and didnt want to see it without him. anyway, i thought it fucking rocked. i had heard mixed opinions from some friends, but im definitely on the side of those that liked it. seriously, maybe im not thinking clearly, but it jumped right up to the top of my movie list, as of right now, im thinking its the best movie ive ever seen. of course, Miami Vice is pretty much what i want to do with my life, so maybe thats why.

anyway, who has seen it, who thinks it fucking rocked, who doesnt think so, etc, etc?

It was ok, I am a big fan of Michael Mann especially Heat which had the best gun scene ever. However I didn’t like the sex scenes that were pretty useless in the story line but the style and mood in the film was great.

WORST movie of all time

  • no plot worth talking about
  • no characterization. Why did they do what they did? where did they get the fancy cars? why were we supposed to care about the girl who got kidnapped when she had 1min of screen time
  • worst acting and wooden dialog. “My mother knows me” .truely pathetic
  • again, worst movie and biggest disappointment ever.

ALso, i would like to add i hate colin farrel. worst actor ever. I hated him in everything he has ever done. I tried to forget all that and give him one more chance with this movie, but know i feel stupid. Jamie fox should know better. I expect more out of him now.

i would have rather been set on fire for the entire length of the movie than sit through it again.

i disagree with you on the sex scenes. think about if rico and trudy did not have the sex scene after the shower. try to imagine the interaction between the two of them minus that sex scene, there really wasnt much, trudy wasnt that big of a role in the movie. with that sex scene, i think it gives you a better idea of the emotions involved in her being kidnapped, etc.

same goes with sonny crockett and the asian girl. did you notice her tears during the sex? crying during sex would indicate something very emotional to me, it just helped to show how much of a connection these two had, and it also helped to show that aspect of “theres undercover, and then theres which way is up”. i will agree with you somewhat in that while i was actually in the theater watching the movie, i didnt get much from these sex scenes, but looking back i realized their worth. great fucking movie, i might go see it again, and im definitely adding it to the 500 or so dvds in my house.

ill give you the statement about plot. this movie was just shot in a totally different way than most movies are, in a way that i havent really seen before. it was more or less just letting you drop in on their lives for a little bit, and see what was going on, with no real beginning or end. it definitely tossed me around a little, and id love to see a sequel come out of it, i dont know if thats in the cards though.

and the fancy cars? when you are in an environment like that, undercover like they are, the police department definitely hooks you up with cars like that. the police department itself usualy snags them up for the department at police auctions/raids, etc. and the reason you care about the girl that got kidnapped is because she was rico’s girl. rico being one of the main characters, you would think her getting kidnapped would tie in somewhere along the lines of importance.

Movie was pretty good in my opinion. You can’t expect them to explain the whole Miami Vice backstory from the series. Not sure why you thought the acting was bad. Jamie Foxx did the best I’ve ever seen from him. The gunfight at the end was one of the best I’ve seen. The sound was what made it really stand out.

I saw it with my cousin this week. We both heard that it was shitty, but we were bored and figured that it would be entertaining. Well, once the movie ended we turned to eachother and couldn’t believe how much it sucked. I wasn’t going to see Citizen Kane, but i expected an entertaining action flick; where the fuck was the action? I thought it was boring and lacked in several areas including the lack of action sequences, no excitement, and the plot fell in half. Give me Bad Boys II.

Over all I enjoyed it. It seemed that the main characters just had to get around and look menacing but the action scenes were fantastic. I have always enjoyed Mann’s films and they always look great.

Now THAT would make a great movie…

I enjoyed it. The only aspect I had an issue with is the whirlwind chang their lives after 2 days relationship between Crockett ans Isabella. That happened way to fast and was a sore spot.

For the first time in a VERY long time I was actually on the edge of my seat for a scene, the trailer scene. That was very well done and the anticipation it gave was top notch.

The ending gun battle was done perfectly. It wasnt that stupid ass screaming, loud bang, shaky as all shit camera work. It was precise, well laid out and the sound during it was as perfect as it gets.

Trivia: Mann, doesnt show any credits during his movies until its over. No title, starring or anything. Just straight to the movie.

While I haven’t seen it yet, I definitely will. Miami Vice was a HUGE part of my childhood (take that for whatever it is worth).

Michael Mann is awesome. I love Heat and Collateral (Cruise aside).

And, while it is most certainly not metal, Jan Hammer is a bad-ass composer. Anyone know if he scored this movie? (I suppose I could go look at imdb, but I thought I;'d ask here as well.)

Farrell has done some bad stuff, but see Tigerland and you might change your mind about his ability. That movie was great.

It has nothing to do with Miami Vice the TV show other than same names. Thats about as much as its like the TV show.
