I’m hearing all the miami fans talk about getting their swagger back after saturday’s game. Let me break this down “U” fans…you are not ranked. Rutgers and Wake Forest are ranked higher than you. You have no swagger rights. You’re screaming about being disrespected in your house? You got beat by an average FSU team, you beat the university of Houston by 1 point, you were only up by 14 on FIU in the 3rd quarter. Your big on-field fight was desperation…not swagger.
Swagger is USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Auburn, Louisville(who disrespected the hell out of you). What you accomplished in the past is historical and I respect that. But that is the past. Jumping up and down on the sidelines after you brawl with FIU is like bragging about beating up a kid in a wheel chair.
And a side note…Temple…step away from the football…it’s just not meant to be.

I agree totally. The swagger is totally gone from the U. Coker and the coaches have lost control of the locker room, and the players pretty much run the show.
And I also agree with what happened afterwards, how they all started jumping up and down with their helmets in the air, like they had won the national championship or something. They acted like they had won a war. It was embarrassing for the school.
Like many people today, they confuse confidence w/ arrogance.
Confidence comes from accomplishment, guys @ the “U” havent accomplished anything. They think that looking tough and acting like thugs gives them the air if invincibility.
What Miami players and fans are calling swagger, the rest of the nation knows is nothing but false bravado. Swagger is when you can back up cockiness with solid play. In reality, this year’s team is not very good at playing, only pretending. That fight was an utter debacle.
I like that FIU kicked two players off their team, I think that sends a strong message. Miami needs to do the same thing. They took a softer approach by going with an “indefinite” suspension. Ask Marcus Vick how effective indefinite suspensions are at modifying behavior.

You might like it, but those two players’ lives are ruined. Unless there’s some academic program making it worthwhile to go to FIU otherwise…and they can afford it with no scholarship…and they are smart enough for that in the first place. All for some minor conference program to make an example and look more moral than Miami, over a mistake that probably anyone could make.
Normally I’d agree with you. What the hell is happening to me?

Exactly.
Again, a fucking football player gets away with crap that I would go to jail for. If I was swinging a motocycle helmet instead of a football helmet outside a bar instead of in a stadium, I would be in jail. These cocksuckers get off…again.
Why are there no criminial charges being pressed, especially for that douchebag #26?
These asshole college players think that they’re the real deal and take themselves so seriously, when in reality most of them will never make the NFL.
Not too mention that horse’s ass Lamar Thomas saying that, “You can’t come down here talking that noise”. What a dumb fucking shit. I’m glad he got fired immediately.

I think both teams should have to forfeit the rest of the season and be put on probation. Celebrating a brawl? That’s unconscionable. The NCAA should not condone such behavior.

FIU is going to continue to provide them with an education by maintain their scholarships. They just can no longer play on the team.

Be careful of the “thug” word. Some folks here consider it racist and will call you names (even though the thought is correct).
Intimidation is all Miami has anymore, and they’re not even good at that these days. FIU is 0-7 in the Sun Belt Conference. Woo-hoo, major win there. Like the previous post said…it’s like beating up the handicapped kid. I don’t know how anyone can consider Miami’s behavior this season as “swagger”. As far as the one game suspensions go, Miami plays Duke next, FIU plays Alabama. Who’s gonna suffer the most? Miami’s practice team could probably beat Duke. Coker needs to go. If U of M is serious, they should immediately fire Coker. His team has been out of control for a while and he has done nothing. You would think that after the Titan’s incident in the NFL, players would be a little more sensitive to stomping on players heads. The suspensions should be for the remainder of the season. I could care less about scholarships for thugs and all that. College is a priveledge. Not everyone deserves to go. Screw it up by bad behavior and you’re done. But, colleges are there to make money and football brings in $$$, so nothing will happen. Miami sucks, it has always been a low-class program and it always will be unless they bring in a coach like Mark Richt (won’t happen) who won’t put up with the crap.

Fuck that. You hit someone with a fucking helmet, that’s what you are. Skin color don’t matter on that one.

First and foremost, they should’ve thought instead of acted. Smith and McDuffie (the dismissed db’s) pretty much started everything. McDuffie kicked a guy in the head while he was on the floor after Smith (I’m pretty sure it was him) tackled him to the floor. Instead of rising above it, they instigated.
I hate to see them go, but a fledgling program like ours doesn’t have room for guys like that, especially when we’re still trying to make a name for ourselves. We don’t want to end up like UM (labeled as thugs). They’re lucky to have kept their scholarships, and while I don’t know what they’re studying, yes, FIU does have worthwhile programs that would make them want to stick around.

I agree, however I used the word “thug” to describe the attitudes and behavior of some of the NBA players on another post and got slammed hard by some very PC folks here.
Didn’t that guy look like a freaking homo when he swung his helmet? He looked like a total puss.

This was my first thought when seeing the “highlights”.
