To the point, “JERKWAD”, These 2 albums were sorta good. But his drunk fest got him kicked the fuck outta Metallica, fucked up the Megadeth tours, and the rest of the albums were “so-so”. I have seen them both on both coasts, and I would pay triple for a Metallica ticket over a Megedeth. Fast guitars do not make a great band. Musical abilities and longevity are the reason Metallica will live forever in future generations.

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

metallica all the way…both bands make quality music but megadeth just doesnt compare even with metallica’s so called ‘sell-out’

Whatever, Fuck. I’ve listened to both for about 20 years, seen both, and I’ll take a Metallica 8 track over a Megadeth cd. Don’t ever think I do not understand Metallica. I have more box sets, Euro prints, rare-CD’s, posters, tapestries, etc. that you will ever know. I have seen them 12-15 times in all forms of psychodelic states, and trust me, Metallica kicks ass live every fuckin’ time. You need to go back to 1st grade, 'cause Metallica will always rock out Megadeth. Dave is a waste of talent.

Well fuck, I just argued with a High School kid. WTF was I doing? You need your ol’ man to beat your ass for jumping in an adult forum. I’ve listened to both bands longer than you have been alive. Drink some similac…

Hmmm…if you feel this way about arguing with him, you probably shouldn’t have responded to his post…twice.

My concern isn’t that you don’t understand Metallica, more that you don’t understand the fine art of argument. Could you be any more vague with the grievances you’ve offered about Megadeth? What “musical abilities” does Megadeth lack that Metallica has? Vocals? Uh…no. Bass playing? With Cliff, absolutely, Dave Ellefson would get smoked in that showdown. Jason or Robert…not so much. Drums? I’m not qualified to make that call, so I’ll keep my mouth shut on that. Guitar-wise, Megadeth is faster and “smarter,” for lack of a better word. Marty Friedman can do more with one scale (though he has a zillion of them in his arsenal) than Kirk and James combined can do with the whole fretboard.

So, what are the “musical abilities and longevity” Megadeth so sorely needs? It seems to be mass appeal. More people like Metallica than Megadeth. That’s cool, good for Metallica, they’ve done wonderfully. But that doesn’t make them superior, that’s more luck by coincidence than a skill that has been practiced – the fact that what they produce just so happens to outsell Megadeth by x millions of albums.

BTW, the argument doesn’t go to the guy firing the most insults! We leave that tactic behind…in the sandbox that you seem to think you graduated from long ago, despite all demonstrations to the contrary.

Drumswise, Lars is a hack, he can’t play drums if his life depended on it. Dave Jr. can outplay Jason, but not so much Cliff or Rob, but he isn’t terrible by any stretch. Guitar wise, Dave and every lead guitarist he has, are light years ahead of James and Kirk, that’s not even up for discussion. I may be a college freshmen, but I know what I’m talking about.

Lars is a hack? He’s a dick, but not a hack. Get your ass on the drums and let’s hear it. And as far as bass players, Jason was young as sperm when he started with Metallica, and he hung in with the “old men!” And in my first post, you just nailed it. Dave and his guitarists, how many has he ran off due to his lack of control of alcohol and drugs??? One more thing, who has the most album sales??? Now, get back to class and quit wastin’ your parents’ money.

You guys realize that you are arguing about musical taste, don’t you?

Kind of reminds me of this guy:
Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as, uh, anything I’ve heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins’ solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and, uh, Against All Odds. Sabrina, don’t just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.
I just have to go on record here and say that Lars is by FAR no hack. He is one of the best drummers metal has seen. Period.

His personaltiy has nothing to do with his talent. Metallica would have suffered if Lars were to go, morso than when they lost Cliff.

Btw, Nick Menza was Megadeths best drummer. Him with Friedman made the best albums for them.

When I, a bass player can play just about every Metallica song on drums, that tells you something about Lars. Back in the 90’s James and Lars use to have a drum off, and James got so much better than Lars, that they stop doing it because it was laughable that he’d start losing to James. Jason was a younger guy, but who cares? He never got say in the band.Ever.

Dave is a dick, and went through too many guitarists, but we’re talking musical ability, not personality, or at least that’s the issue I’m discussing. The album sale point, with that logic, Britney Spears is amazing 'cuz she made millions more, does that make her a musician?
