I did, and it scares me.

I wonder who influenced Volbeat…

Death Magnetic is a great album. LOL @ acting like metallica started releasing jazz songs after the black album that are not hardcore enough. some of their best stuff is the most recent. anyone who got a chance to hear songs like All Nightmare Long live will appreciate how awesome that stuff is.
Well, I like jazz. I also like soft, catchy pop music. The only requirement is that it is well-crafted. I dislike post-AJFA Metallica because the songs are weak, the production sucks and Hetfield sings like an absolute douchebag.
I’m guessing you also liked their Lou Reed collaboration? Or was it not hardcore enough for you?
only good song on that cd is The View, rest are crap
Black album has a few good songs on it but this is still probably my favourite Metallica song. In fact when I was 13 I had only just started getting into metal and hadn’t heard any Metallica yet. Then this song came on one of the music TV stations and I was hooked. Awesome song

load was a great album me thinks.
i also started listening to st. anger a little while squatting, and this thing has so much rage…kinda grew on me.
Not disagreeing there are moments on those albums that shine. But overall and as a cohesive body of work together they don’t compare to the first 5 records and the last.

Everything post black album was not nearly as good. Personally, I think getting rid of Dave Mustane was a big mistake. That guy was incredible for metallica.
Could you please elaborate on this, please?

RV always makes everything better when he shows up!

Are you disagreeing what I said. Cause I think I speak for 99.9% of every metallica fan out there. Are you saying that albums after the black album were as good as previous, i think not. And nobody can argue the talent of dave mustane.

RV, Dude, Mustaine is a great guitar player, no argument there, BUT! he didn’t play on any Metallica albums other than a demo. He was booted before Kill’ Em All.
I am incorrect? Anyone?
That can’t be. ive seen him on youtube in concert with them. In their first few albums, when they were really guitar heavy.

This right here, my sophomore year at HS is when the black album came out and I remember all the wannabes with their pushead shirts.
I used to listen to MOP, Lightning, Kill 'EM All, and Justice before whatever sport I was playing in high school, kids would always ask what I was listening to and when I replied Metallica they would say it didn’t sound like them since what they where used to was the black album.
Metallica = kill em all thru $5.98 garage days revisited (KEA thru AJFA = great, Garage days = good)
Black album is different good, but the band is definitely changing.
Load/reload = shit with 2-3 decent songs each.
Garage inc = garage days plus a lot of pure crap.
S&M I thought was decent, in a different sense, the symphony added something that I liked. But metallica itself was over for me.
St Anger = listened to it, never bought it, gave up on them.
Death magnetic = I bought, only because I heard it was good, only listened to it once out of the gym, and twice in it.

Burton MADE Metallica. I liked Newsted, and how Justice was so angry, but he had little to do with it. They were pissed at losing Cliff. I never liked Lars, and how he and hetfield douched the band to death after Cliff died.

Mustaine hated Metallica for a long, long time, after he was fired.
From ‘Some Kind of Monster’ … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKoXcJaylAo
Kirk is by far the coolest, least douchey member of the band.
Do we not count Rob as a true member of Metallica? I like Rob, he seems like a cool guy

I did google it. He was with the band for 2 years. 1981-1983. While he didn’t record any albums with them, he did go on tour with them. he also wrote a few songs.

And I always found his somewhat effeminate manner to be pleasantly antithetical to heavy metal’s macho display!

How was he incredible for them? He didn’t play on any of the albums. I don’t think the 99% of Metallica fans you’ve spoken on behalf of would agree.

Out of the ~1800 guys I’ve played with over the past decade, only a handful could be considered “macho”. All these xenoestrogens… its pathetic.

He wasn’t incredible for them. Anyone who believes so obviously doesn’t know what he is talking about. End of discussion.
