Metabolic Diet and Bodybuilding

Just wanted to know if anyone out there is using the Metabolic Diet and principles for pure bodybuilding? Anyone on a bulking phase a la Metabolic Diet, or cutting? I was looking for some insight by those who follow Di Pasquale’s recommendations for gaining weight. Thanks…

i’m using it to cut right now. doing meltdown II coming off a strength cycle, eating slightly higher carbs (including surge post-workout) since i’ve got rugby practice 2x a week, a game, and boxing at least 1x. working really well since i’m at school where i have a cafetera. i’m eating around maintenance level, lots of hamburger, turkey, chicken, fish, occasionally pastrami or corned beef. about 3/4 carbs coming from veggies. the love handles are steadily decreased and i’m starting to see my lats from the front

i would definitely take creatine and glutamine, you can feel really run down for the 1st week or so. but that might just be all the power cleans.

I used THE ANABOLIC DIET which is pretty identical to lose weight. It worked better than any diet ever. I had maximum muscle with the least fat ever (for the weight to which I reduced as compared to the past).

However, I realized the purpose is TO GET BIG. I gained 30 lbs. but got “fat”. I was as fat as if I had eaten a regular diet. The biggest difference was that my face did not get AS BLOATED when I reached the heavier weights of 225-234 lbs.

Recommendation: only use the diet to CUT UP. Eat lots of protein and selectively add carbs to gain weight.

Niclac, on the bulking phase, how much was your calorie surplus, and what percentage of your diet was saturated fat, omega-6s and omega-3s? Thanks.

I didn’t count calories because after a while, the body becomes very good at burning fats for energy. I just ate more meat and literally took “swigs” of olive oil to get extra calories. It was hard to gain weight after the 5 months of “cutting up”. You will notice that your friday night weight is about 7-9 lbs. under your sunday night weight, which is your real weight. Surprisingly, during the cut up phase, your waist and face do not get bloated by sunday night.
It took 6 months to go from a sunday night weight of 205 to 234lbs. After 11 months on the diet, I made the conclusions I referred to in another post.

Endpoint- don’t worry about saturated vs. mono un. fats. This diet should be about CUTTING UP for naturals. To get big, EAT big and train hard but that doesn’t mean overtraining. You need the carbs to mobilize the ingested protein to your muscles.

im doin it for bulking right now. im on my 3rd week. i will keep posting results…
