Men's Olympic Hockey

I was the lone Canadian in a bar in Pittsburgh. The place was silent except for me screaming. AWRIGHT CANADA!

Why do people hate Crosby so much? All he’s done in the past year is win the Stanley Cup, dozens of awards for scoring, assists and MVP’s, and now Gold. Why do Canadians hate him? I’m a penguins fan, so I like him regardless (and I think he’s immensely talented). i just want to know peoples opinion.

And for the record, Crosby: 2 Ovechkin: 0
Not all Canadians hate him. I don’t even think the majority do. The problem is that he was a whiney bitch for the first 2 years of his career in the NHL. He could do that in the Q but not in the NHL. He’s a great player and will win many more awards and more cups/gold medals. He just has to start acting like a Captain and not a child. And Ovechkin and Crosby are similar in skill with maybe even Ovech being a bit better… its comparing apples to oranges.
Sorry, I didn’t mean all Canadian. I just think its crazy for any canadian to hate him after what he did today. But time will tell.

And about the whining. Yes he did complain to refs about stuff in the beginning, but he was drafted when he was 19 and given captains responsibilities almost right away. Thats tough for anybody, let alone a first overall pick. But he has delivered everything that was asked of him. Just seems unfair to call him a bitch when he’s arguably the best player in the league.
What he did was score the game winning goal. I agree, he deserves some credit for that but he was an absolute ghost for the majority of the olympics. Toews arguably was the best Canadian the entire tournament. Its tough coming into the league at such a young age and given the responsibility thats been given to him. That’s not his fault, definitely Pittsburgh’s. You didn’t see Ovechkin crying though his first season. Just saying

They let you leave after that?

thanks for coming out usa

14 GOLDS EPIC!!! NEW RECORD WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Seriously, congrats to the US. Your guys played incredibly and surprised a lot of people. You weren’t even considered a medal contender by most and could very well have beaten us.

Technically we did beat you … but you beat us when it counted  Helluva game only could be happier if we won … but Congrats to Canada, glad you guys won’t be committing mass suicide tonight … I like y’all

Actually, it was very sporting. They bought me beer, I bought them beer. It was awful to be surrounded by the chant of U! S! A! U! S! A! half a minute before the end of regulation time, though. I definitely can’t go to Russia for the next one - hockey is probably the only thing I could get in a bar fight over.

Any thoughts on Sid Crosby possibly getting some pussy tonight?

Canada fucked up the U.S

No tongue or anything, but yeah, Him, Iginla or Getzlaf, Heroes for today.
You really are drunk, aren’t you? You are going to regret this tomorrow,

Mad_Duck you are cracking me up…congratulations on the win. The OT had my heart at the mouth - it’s a do or die situation.

This thread is endearing.

Congratulations Canada!

This pretty much sums it up.
Sometimes people don’t quite realize just how insane Canada gets about hockey. The entire country pretty much stopped today to watch that game.

Thx for the congrats.

I went on a walkabout with the dog for a while, and the national pride I saw around the city (9 PM or so) was something I haven’t seen in Vancouver, well, ever.

The really funny part, is my favorite players in the tournament by far were Nash & Getzlaf. On Tuesday, Nash will be the enemy to be neutralized. (probably by that trash-talking American who had a phenomenal game earlier (#17))

I had a couple thoughts on this game.

 1. High def TV makes hockey so much better to watch. I played club in college, understand the game, and use to hate watching the NHL because so much of the game was lost to the technology. In high def you can see the puck and the stick work. The NHL needs to invest in getting as much of its game in HD as possible. They also need to use more TV angles. You lose part of the game when the puck is hidden on the boards.

 2. Nash is a monster.

 3. The USA has a lot of young talent.

Congrats to Canada…great game. Hopefully this becomes a rivlary that elevates the awareness in the US. They need to show more international hockey on TV in the US.

My wife’s Irish and her one complaint about Canada has always been the lack of showing in National pride. These Olympics, and this game particularily, have somewhat changed her view.

As for the game, incredible!

I was surprised how much the US team improved from the first match-up. The first game I thought was really Miller beating us, whereas this game was really “even” in every aspect.

I couldn’t believe it that it was Parise who scored. The irony being that his father was (in part) responsible for Canada winning the '72 Summit Series against the Soviet.

I maintain that we were 1 and 1 vs. Canada in the tournament and demand a rubber match. Whose with me for round 3?

I accept your challenge, on the condition that Bergeron, Niedermayer and Pronger are replaced by Stamkos, Bouwmeester and Greene. Kudos to the U.S. for putting a great team together, you gave us a run for our money…But in fairnes, the U.S. didn’t beat Canada that first game, Ryan Miller did  (flame away)

Four on four, you bet.

Yeah, it’s hard to feel bad for anyone that wins a silver, but miller earned a gold one.

wtf… all the NHL games arent in high def yet?

One thing I gotta say is that I dont really like watching NHL hockey games. With Olympic hockey its fast passed and ppl are just playing. It seems like NHL games go on for nearly twice as long as the Olympic game cuz after every play a fight breaks out and they need to break it up. They should leave teh fighting to UFC fighters.
