Men's Olympic Hockey

Russia v. Canada:

Gonna be one hell of a game. Can’t believe that one of these teams will be going home w/o a medal. Personally I think it’ll be Canada as Russia will pull it off 5-3.

US v. Switzerland:

They didn’t make it an easy win last time, this game will be no different, but I still see a US win of 4-2

Honestly, I think it all comes down to goalie play. If Hiller is on, Switzerland has a chance, otherwise this should be a pretty easy game.

The Russia/Canada is the real treat, as we get to see the two greatest player go head to head on one of the worlds biggest stages. I think Ovechkin is beast enough to give Canada a run for their money, and after what team USA did to them, we now know that they are not invincible.

My moneys on Russia. That hit on Jagr was awesome, and he’s a beast himself.

Canada will win. It’s written in the sky since the creation of the universe

Im out of the loop alittle but is U.S. gonna play Slovakia.

Your so outta the loop you didn’t read the OP. I feel for you, that’s rough!

Switzerland v Usa.

Canada v Usa had 12 million Canadian viewers the other night, that’s half our adult population and the most watched sporting event in our history. If anyone wants to invade Canada, I suggest tonight.

RUSKI!

HAHA, no shit. Tonights game will break that record for sure.

Still waiting for Nash to light it up.

I bet the US team wishes they were playing the Slovacs instead of the Swiss.

Canada will hopefully take it, as long as they dont put Perry on the ice. That last shift in the US game was brutal.

Datsyuk, Kovalchuk, Ovechkin, Semin, Gonchar, Malkin, Kovalev, Afinogenov…the list goes on…

I am one scared Canadian.

I’ll be honest though, Team Canada looks like an absolute mess out there in terms of chemistry. (the exception of Crosby and Iggy.)

Russia is just powering through and is clicking a whole lot more than us. I hope Canada steps up to the plate and Luongo plays lights out!

GO CANADA GO!

Agreed.

On a side note, who else was pissed that Nash didn’t take the penalty shot? Total BS! Crosby already has 4 goals in the tourney? Nash has none…and drew the penalty.

I’m pissed off that he hasn’t shown off his puck handling skills. Maybe the coaches are telling him to play a different style than he’s used to.

USA is up 1-0 in the 3rd.

Coaches probably reminded him that he’s got much more competent line mates than what he’s used to in Columbus, so he’s just crashing the net hoping for a nice pass.

The man is huge and has great hands, maybe he’ll be hungry enough to use them and get a goal tonight. He reminds me of Bertuzzi back in the golden days :frowning: but a lot more versatile.

Btw, where has Thornton been? I know he scored a goal last night…but he’s been invisible for most of the tournament.

USA has defeated Switzerland 2-0. BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE!

The Russians lost to Slovakia and Canada lost to the US.

Both teams fans are thinking. “Holy Eff our team is starting slow and we have to play CANADA/RUSSIA ALREADY?!?!”

The Swiss are a good team and were competitive in every game they played. Canada hasn’t played terribly and both our country and the Russians are scared shitless about the possibilities of this game.

I’ve been following T-Nation for a while now, but rarely post… Tonight is going to be a great game! I have been anticipating Russia vs. Canada since the start; however, I expected this match-up for the gold… haha. Canada has a lot on the line being at home and will play some unbelievable hockey, which will bring the best fight out of Russia. We are going to witness some amazing play and I definitely think it’s going to come down to the very last minutes of the game.

I see Russia winning, but barely. Canada’s roster is a majority of NHL team captains, too many leaders. Nabokov, Malkin, and Ovechkin will be given the credit tonight. I think Russia is one of the most entertaining teams to watch, and we will continue to be entertained for the rest of the tournament.

I really like her. She looks like she could be easily tricked. What’s her name?

I’m Canadian, and I hate to bet against the home team, but I think Russia is going to take this. God I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think I will be.

I don’t. I think the Slovacs are entirely underrated. The amount of heart in their forwards I guess is in question. But looking at their roster they really aren’t as bad as people would like to think. They did come from the pool of death, and scored and upset on russia. That wasn’t an accident either, look at their lineup. The Hossa brothers, Chara, Gaborik, Demitra, Satan, Svatos, Zednik. They’re not bad. Far from it. I guess their back end is the only thing in question, which is understandable.
