Why do people hate Crosby so much? All he’s done in the past year is win the Stanley Cup, dozens of awards for scoring, assists and MVP’s, and now Gold. Why do Canadians hate him? I’m a penguins fan, so I like him regardless (and I think he’s immensely talented). i just want to know peoples opinion.

Not all Canadians hate him. I don’t even think the majority do. The problem is that he was a whiney bitch for the first 2 years of his career in the NHL. He could do that in the Q but not in the NHL. He’s a great player and will win many more awards and more cups/gold medals. He just has to start acting like a Captain and not a child. And Ovechkin and Crosby are similar in skill with maybe even Ovech being a bit better… its comparing apples to oranges.

Sports Illustrated had a survey of NBA players asking who the most overrated player was. Lebron James had like 3% votes. Now thats just crazy. Even half a vote for James as overrated is silly. So you can see how these polls work. Mostly its jealousy talking. Crosby is a 22 years old Stanley Cup winning captain, with all the awards there are to win and now Olympic gold.
He also has the biggest target on his back in the entire NHL, so he’s gonna get chirped by everyone. Its all subjective really. Judge him for his hockey skills. Its undeniable that his skills aren’t up there wit the greats of today and even the past.

Sorry, I didn’t mean all Canadian. I just think its crazy for any canadian to hate him after what he did today. But time will tell.
And about the whining. Yes he did complain to refs about stuff in the beginning, but he was drafted when he was 19 and given captains responsibilities almost right away. Thats tough for anybody, let alone a first overall pick. But he has delivered everything that was asked of him. Just seems unfair to call him a bitch when he’s arguably the best player in the league.
