None of these things(painting nails, the color pink, etc.) are inherently or objectively feminine by themselves. There is no value attached to them whatsoever besides what we as humans and societies give them. Our western way of viewing them attaches female qualities/attributes to them and any man who defies his gender role(even in such a trivial and insignificant way) by wearing nail polish, for example, will open himself up to criticism from other members regardless of whether their objections are grounded in logic(a sound case for why he should not wear nail polish).
I see it as a non-issue, objectively. However, I have been raised to view such deviations as bizarre and humorous…feelings not grounded in reasoned thinking.
I knew some Maine Guides on the Penobscot who painted their toenails. They said it helped control the fungus that grew on their nails as a result of their feet being immersed in the river most of the day.
I know a lot of guides in Maine. Some of those guys will come up with ANY excuse to paint their nails or wear a dress… Sure, the pantyhose keep the skeeters and blackflies at bay… sure they do… AYUH!
Loose Tool, that’s me guiding on the Kennebec River, Maine
And I’ve seen male AMC High Hut staff packing supplies while wearing a sun dress and flip flops. There are strange things done in the North Woods.

Now if we were only living in ancient times I would think that you had a good point. Since we don’t I think you are pretty much speaking out of your ass.
You see junior in our society it’s been women who have worn the nail polish for quite some time.
Ha ha…let me guess, you’re in college right?

Maybe the men want a turn too?
This clown even has the tramp stamp. I hear he’s getting a vagina soon.

Yeah, me too, but I don’t have any. Between playing bass and lifting, my hands are pretty nasty, and I don’t want to emphasize it with nail polish.
I can’t stand the new comercial for Chris Angel. It shows his feet(levitating) with black polish on his toenails. I believe he also wears it sometimes on his fingers as well. He is kind of Goth, so not too surprised.
