Melatonin, not to be confused with...Melatonin!

I already did a search on the forum and read all that was to be said about melatonin, so I assure you this is nothing new. My first question: Being 18, is it alright for me to take melatonin? Second question: How should I cycle it? One day on, two days off? One day on, four days off? One day on, seven days off? Or you can answer the second question by substituting it with another: How often should I take melatonin? Once a week? Twice a week? Thanks everyone!

Why are you taking it? It is a sleeping or jet lag aid. Follow the label directions and start with a minimal dose.

I am taking it because my sleep cycle is screwed up beyond proportions. I bought some from GNC, and each pill contains 3mg. I tried it last night for the first time and I cannot remember dreaming this vividly in a long time! I literally had ten different dreams/nightmares in one night! But I am still trying to find out if it is safe for someone at my age. As for the schedule of taking it, assuming it is safe in the first, I am trying to decide on once a week or twice a week, or maybe even three times every two weeks. Any additional information will be appreciated!
