Hey guys,
So I recently was able to join a local highschool powerlifting team and our regional meet is February 22nd and the state meet is March 8th. (Very inconvenient I know) But anyway, I was wondering how I should go about peaking for these meets. Should I just peak at the regional meet and have two weeks after of light work? Also should I use Sheiko 32 to peak at regionals although I’m not sure it will end I’m time for the meet. I’m just very confused right now so any help would be beneficial. Thanks in advance.
Why not just hit your gym prs at the 22nd meet and save your big prs for the state meet.
If you joined a team, wouldnt they have a program that you follow, and a coach to answers these questions? I dont mean to come across as being rude, these are actual questions. Wouldnt the coach have a plan for what to do for these two meets?
Whats you training been like up to this point? If you google joe skopec powerlifting calculators there is a whole page of peak style programs. I personally did the sheiko 5 week peak and hit a 23lb dl pr after running it, after cutting weight as well.
The coach’s only real place on the team is to sign the lifters up for meets and help the less experienced, other than that all the lifters on the team are literally told to do “whatever you want to do”. Sad I know. But up to this point for the last few months I’ve even doing mostly auto regulation type training and yesterday I began week three of the extended Russian peaking program on joe skopec so that’s what I have planned as of now.
