I went to my Parents house for dinner and my Dad made some marinated chicken breasts. They were SO much better than my usual bland plain chicken breasts. He let the chicken breasts (about 8) sit in a bag of Italian Dressing for a few days. After that he poured out all of the dressing (It looked like 99% of it!) How many calories does it add? I mean how much can be absorbed into the chicken if most of it is still in the bag? Should even factor the calories?
Did he grill them afterwards? I love that! Mix in some brown rice, veggies, and low-cal marinara, and you’ve got a really yummy meal. You can also do that trick with top round. Just slice up the meat so that it’s 3/4 of an inch thick or so, poke holes in it with a fork, and marinade. Keep in mind that the vinegar is “cooking” the meat to a certain extent, and when you cut the meat to look for pink, it’ll mostly be gray. That’s normal.
To answer your question, it adds negligible calories, around 25-50.
Unless you are having problems. the calories are negligible.
Marinades are by far one of the most commonly missing ingredients in bodybuilder cooking, which generally has a reputation of being more bland than English food. Some lime and tobasco can make any meat even tastier on the grill, or tandoori-type seasoning…and there’s also some Basque-derived recipe that’s sold in the US, at least in the western states, that’s really delicious especially on chicken and grilled meats.
