I manage to get my hands on an Accu-chek. Free of charge.
Since I am a non-diabetic is there any benefit to measuring my glucose levels?
I have started a wee bit of a log so far:
mmol/L
Jan 1 2007 Nonworkout
5:30pm pre dinner 5.3
Jan 2 2007 Work Out
8 am pre breakfast 5
10am pre Brunch-preworkout4.8
1:30pm postworkout 5.9
(gatorade-protein,
while working out)
4:30 pm after lunch 6.8
Jan 3 2007 Sprint Training
4:30 after trainng
and before food 4.3
9:30pm before supper 4.5
12am bedtime 5.3
I understand that since I am not a diabetic my glucose levels will stay in their respective target levels.
Typically, blood glucose level ranges in people who do not have diabetes are:
? Fasting 4.0 ? 6.0 mmol/L
? Casual 5.0 ? 8.0 mmol/L
A diagnosis of diabetes would be made if the levels were:
? Fasting 7.0 mmol/L or higher
? Casual 11.1 mmol/L or higher
? 2 hours after a Glucose Tolerance Test, 11.1 mmol/L or higher
or
Most adolescents and young adults
4-8 mmol/L
I have noticed some trends:
Low glucose levels in the morning
Higher glucose levels after I ingest carbs (even after a workout)
Low glucose levels after I sprint train on a low carb day
Low glucose levels on low carb day
You may have to read the first part of my other log to see what I eat.
