I was wondering. How many of you actually consume 5-6 meals a day religously with todays working society? Almost everyday I have trouble eating exactly every 2-3 hours because I work 8 hour shifts m-f, so what ever I don’t consume throughout the day, I eat at night to make sure I have consumed my daily caloric intake. I only have 30min for lunch and cannot split that into two. Nor do I have short breaks except to go to the bathroom. I wouldn’t want to sneak any meals into the bathroom and just gulp them down for the sake of eating every 2-3 hours, people would think I have an eating disorder. But I do find myself worrying about catabolism. Anyone else have this problem? How do you guys and t-staff do it?
i eat 5 a day, 8-11-2-5-8. good sized breakfast, protein bars or ‘breakfast pudding’ for 11, 2 and sometimes 5, and a full ‘meal’ at 8. my caloric intake is probably lower than yours though…so i eat less so can eat quickly. sitting infront of a computer all day long has its advantages!
I manage it M-F, and I only get 30 minutes for lunch as well. I eat at my desk while I’m working for my second and 4th meal, have my regular lunch, and breakfast, PWO shake and dinner are at home. Works pretty well.
Dude, you gotta either suck it up and eat or store your sac in a mason jar way in the back of the closet and never come back to this site again.
You’re right, eating 5 meals a day takes commitment and planning. I’m willing to bet you’ve got time to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, right? I’m also willing to bet that you can take 2 minutes 2X during your work day to slam down a protein shake or MRP, right? Then there you go my man, 5 meals.
BTW, if you’re concerned about what other people think about your eating patterns, you’d better get yourself a new posting name, possibly PMS-Warrior
I eat every 3 hours at 6-9-12-3-6-9. I eat a solid breakfast at home. My 12 o’clock meal is a “normal” lunch. I keep a bucket of protein powder in a file cabinet in my desk. At 9 and 3 I throw a couple scoops of protein in a tupperwear pitcher type thing and mix it with water. I drink that while I work. You must have time to fill up a container with water. The bad thing for me is that my cube is on the way to the board room so when people are walking by, I have a rolled up piece of paper as a funnel scooping protein into a container. Then come the dumb ass comments like, “Are you training for the olympics or something”
Sometimes it is hard to fit in five or six meals in a busy day. I used to have co-workers give me shit about my “constant” food breaks. All you have to do is look around and see the people that are clogging their arteries with twinkies and cigarettes. Your doing something good for youself, BE PROUD! You will feel pity for those that find themselves on the lower rungs of the Tman/woman chain.
I mix up a big protein shake before work and measure out what I need throughout the day. For solid food I use a bunch of tupperware, usually filled with cottage cheese (I have a fridge at work), tuna, and veggies. If I need to nuke a meal I can. It only takes about three minutes to eat one meal, so it doesn’t interfere with my work. If you plan ahead, you can do it. My Sunday afternoons are spent in the kitchen, getting food ready for the week. With only two breaks to go to the bathroom, how are you drinking enough water? I drink a little over a gallon a day and have to pee all the time.
When dieting, I eat at least six meals. I think I will go for 8 during bulking.
I just manage to get meals in at 7,9,11,1,3,5,7,9 - I work 13/14hour days in a sales/city trading type environment. Originally i had to hide outside, or in the bathroom - but i soon learnt not to give a shit. i alsways keep mrp’s about,. have a couple of massive blends a day, and then a box of eggs, loaf of wholemeal bread and a couple of cans of tuna sees to the rest. takes minutes top make, and it annoys the hellout of all the lardy boys who mock me ways - yet not my 29" waist. odd that…ha!
There are no excuses for eating less than six times per day.
I eat 8 meals a day. 8/10/12/2:30/5/7/8/11 MRP + Oatmeal or Bannana at 8, Tuna/Udos Choice/Peanuts @ 10 and 2:30, chicken salad with fruit @ noon, protein bar @ 5, Surge @ 7, MRP @ 8, cottage cheese @ 11.
Try some meal replacement powders. Bring a shaker to your work, go the the water fountain to fill it up, and just pour the powder into the water. It should mix instantly. Theres about 30 grams of protein and 300 calories right there for ya.
I see many of you are working eh? Well,I am college student,I cannot help NOT eating unless I decide to open up a protein bar in the middle of class and eat in front of the professor…that’s not good.
Anyway, when I was interning at Motorola during the summer,I was eating 6 meals a day. It’s true that if u have deskjob or something,it’s easy to eat 6 times a day…it’s awesome!!
Too bad now I am in college and it’s hard to get in more than 4 a day!! Sheeeesh…
Not a problem for me. In fact, I find it easier to stay on schedule during the work week!
You’re joking right??? I eat something almost every 15-30 minutes - I have to!!! I always feel hungry. No MD6 means, food now. I work 12 hour shifts, 4 days on, 4 days off, 6 nights on, 7 days off. Working at night is a bitch. If you don’t eat you’ll fall asleep. That is my problem. But anyway, I got instant oatmeal, protein powder, multi-vitas, and water in my survival cabinet here at work. I drink like 4-6 big Evian bottles while working and I got a small cooler full of cold Evian bottles in my car. If you really give a shit about getting the food in your system, make time for it. Working in front of the computer for 12 hours, our HR department (most of them) say to take 5-7 minutes away from the computer each hour. In Toronto its the law. I’m one of those guys who has a small egg timer that I set to go off every 45 minutes. In the 45 minutes I’m working my ass off, when it goes off I stuff some cold oatmeal, fruit/veggies in my mouth and gulp down some water. Then get back to work, unless I gotta take a piss. My desk is just 10 steps from the washroom so I get in/out as fast as I can. People think I eat a lot but fuck 'em!!! I’m no asshole, but this pisses me off sometimes. I tried to cut back on food to try and stay “more preductive”, it didn’t work. My manager and some of the boys upstairs noticed I slowed down with less food, so let me eat whenever I want and they started doing it too. My office is full of food now, everyone eats all the time. Not all of it is good for you food, but at least we can eat. I think if you add up how much I eat, you’d think it was tons of food. Most of it is all fiber, fruits and Veggies. Bottom line -TRY HARDER!!
do you not have a break in between classes? all of my classes are 15 minutes a part. that is plenty of time to eat a premade meal, sandwhich, protein bar, etc. To everyone that says they don’t have time, there are no excuses. you can make time. there is always a way to get food in, it just depends on how dedicated you are.
I’ve got a tin of instant oats and my protein powder under my desk. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are normal food, mid morning and mid afternoon ‘meals’ are oats and protein powder. A cup, spoon and warm water is all you need. I love it! No problem getting in 6 meals a day. Got the idea from “Foods that make you look good nekid”. Oats! The bodybuilder’s best friend! Bulking and cutting phases are a cinch now. I don’t know how I could’ve lived without oats before. Plus, the fiber content is excellent. I’ve never been more regular ![]()
I order protein from the protein factory and blend around 200 grams of protein with (depending on the diet) skim milk and/or water, peanut butter, bananas, etc. to make meal replacement protein shakes. I then pour this in those tall squeeze bottles with the push/pull sealing spouts (like on dishwashing soap bottles) and carry it in my bag or briefcase. Every two or three hours I just grab a bottle and suck down whatever fraction of my daily intake I need. (Given the thickness, it’s often quicker and easier to unscrew the lid and drink it like from a cup.) If you weigh out the protein and calculate all the calories and macro nutrient levels you need, you should be able to know exactly how much of these homemade meal replacements you’ll need, like half or a third of a bottle per meal. You can literally suck down 800 high quality calories in less than a minute this way. If you want to do massive eating, you can make one bottle carbs and protein and the other fats and protein. I can’t imagine someone in college not being able to fit in at least six meals this way unless they can’t afford the protein–but if that is the case, they probably couldn’t afford to eat enough of any food to maximize their potential.
If you want it badly enough no one can stop you. This is how I regard eating. I am at a college campus for roughly 8 hours a day then go to work afterward. I eat while walking between classes, while in the bathroom (it’s great for draining your tuna juice), plus how many people read while they’re in the bathroom? So what’s the difference between that and eating, sure it may sound unappatizing but how many of you actually wash your hands after using the outhouse anyway? Bottom line, shakes and bars can make it easier, but if your not willing to commit all the shakes, bars, and food in the world will not matter. Best of luck.
I guess all I need now is the money to buy tons of protein bars…How much does a whole BOX of protein bars run for these days anyway?
