Does anyone have some ideas for snack meals, lunch and dinner? I’m on a limited budget and I’m trying to think of shit that would be quick and easy. I eat a lot of tuna, eggs, and chicken.
I figured out my BMR and DEE and I’m going to need 3113 cals a day–so I’ve got it figured out to be 33g protein/meal, 83g carbs/meal, and 7g fat/meal. What the hell can I get for that many carbs? I’m trying to low-fat bulk because I have a hard time gaining weight so carbs shouldn’t bother me.
Well, the things you’ve already mentioned:
-eggs
-tuna
-Frozen Chicken Breasts
Other than that:
-Lean Ground Turkey is cheap. You can get 2 meals out of a 1lbs. roll (about $2.00 usually)
-OATMEAL for carbs is a good choice. Buy generic.
-Protein powder is relatively cheap per serving. A 5lbs tub of Grow! Whey contains 46 servings (22g protein each). About 70 cents/serving
-Buy a huge bag of almonds from costco or sam’s club for $11, there’s tons of calories in there
-Natural Peanut butter is less than $3 and is very calorie dense
The list goes on. Get creative. Check out the “college student grocery list” thread in the supplements and nutrition forum.

What the hell?
Sorry man, I guess it came out wrong when I typed it. I just chose to go low fat, I’m just trying it out because it seems that everywhere I go or eat there is high amounts of carbs. Last time I got my bf checked I had 11 mm in my stomach area, and I’m kind of unsure how to reduce that, everywhere else it was 5mm.

In my opinion if you want to lose fat from the stomach area you have to reduce your carb in-take.
Have a look at the anabolic diet and do some research into it, it pretty much proves you can lose fat from eating high fat foods with low carb intake.
Awesome man, thanks for your input. I’m just stuck on what I want to do and I’m not sure if I can gain weight and still look lean in the process or if it’s something you just have to do to gain.

Well, my point was, you seem to want to bulk up, but you are concerned about limiting macronutrients. That is something that should mainly be reserved for cutting.
I’m not saying you have to really dirty bulk but I think that you don’t need to count calories or macronutrients very closely when bulking, especially if you are getting most from food items you know are good for you. Just have a general idea and make sure you get enough, but not too too many calories. Also get plenty of protein.
If you start having problems, fat coming on too fast, no weight gain, health problems, then adjust and tighten the diet up.
If you are going to bulk, don’t worry about your current belly condition. If you want to cut then yes keep close track of nutrients, cut down on calories till you are below maintenance, and consider a low-carb diet (depending on your need for insulin sensitivity rebooting, your preference, how your body responds to carbs, etc).
Understandable. Thanks for the input, I’m just trying to figure out where I want to be. I’m not as lean as I want to be really but I’m not sure if I should bulk up or not. I mean I only weight about a buck 60…
Does anyone have a link to the anabolic diet on the forum?
You don’t sound like you got things in order, if you are saying low fat, and talk about issues with carbs.
There is this vast DISCONNECT… Use the search function… laziness is not rewarded on this website.
Train harder, more protein, less carbs if your worried about aesthetics. Sprinters can be big lean guys and explosive. You just have to ANTE up. Then you can one day sit at the table and say WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!
Transcend your mental limitations find your inner Olympian. Tehehe.
