Overall a great workout today but not too taxing

Ordered my belt + 12 pack of finibars today! With the 15% it came out the same as if I ordered from tnation, but it also allowed me to get 15% off the belt too =P Really excited! I figured they would be helpful in puttin on weight/for the meet day itself… plus, peanutbutter? shit yes!

Few things, if I may:

1st off, I’m no seasoned lifter, or veteran of the game here, man. I’m just a guy who’s done a meet with a lot of help from others here, so I’m very fortunate to be able to pass on a few tips and tricks that I may have learned over the last 12ish months I’ve been lifting seriously. Happy to help you be stronger than me, haha.

2nd, very good to hear you’re actually trying to gain weight rather than cut it down for the meet. You’ll perform way better.

3rd, don’t try and kill yourself this close to your meet. A couple weeks out, the “work” is done, and you’re not going to get “stronger”. Work on your form, not trying to break records. Save it for meet day, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Oh and when you do your meet, you better come back here with vids and a good write-up about it, people love reading about that shit. If you haven’t read mine, it’s in my old log, I can dig up a link for you.

Oh, and as far as your cues when lifting at the meet, listen to the judges. When you bring up your squat, HOLD IT, and wait for the “rack” command. When you bench, pause at the bottom, press, and HOLD IT for the “rack command”.

Don’t be the “newb” that fucks those up.

Tried out Tim Henriques/Thibaudeaus 8 week to a better bench program last night, or at least the workout 1+2. I was intrigued mainly cause my bench sucks and it looked pretty cool/straightforward. So it looked like this:

Cluster set of 90% → 205. Got it for 7 reps with an average of 20 sec rest.

Shitty sessions happen man, don’t sweat it. It could have something to do with your trying to max out on the day following a double deadlifting day (not really sure why you go back and deadlift more. Why not give it all you got the first time, and be too exhausted for more later and opt to make an eating session instead)

Also, vid’s would help of your form here, maybe someone would see something obvious about your technique that’s holding you back

Im not quite sure either… yeah i wanna videotape but all ive got is my camera phone which holds like a 5 sec clip if im lucky and delete most of the stuff off my phone=/ i actually had someone later help me with my form using just 135 and found that a slightly wider grip feels a lot more comfortable and really lets me a) get the tuck down and b) helps me get the path right where it needs to be.

Ive definitely cooled down… just havent had a bad session in awhile i guess. shit happens. took it as a rest day. watched some movies and ate cheese with the gf, it was nice =P
