What is it about big government socialist policies that turns you on? I’m asking in all sincerity. All I’ve ever seen from you is THAT you do, but never WHY.
The kid is in his 20’s. He’s a New Jersey guido who has never even contributed to society.
What else could he be but a raving socialist, wealth redistributionist?
As soon as he gets a job, a family, and gets a real life, he will change his tune.
He says he’s in the print journalism industry.
Sometimes I sit and stare in dumbfounded disbelief. Not just at him, but at liberals on TV, people I know, articles etc. Have we learned nothing from history? How is it even possible that people in this country could countenance the unholy trinity of Pelosi, Reid and Obama? It reminds me of abused women who refuse to leave their abusers. What’s it gonna take to finally convince people that these despotic elitists do not have their interests at heart?

What socialist policies am I for?
I’m a democrat. I’m a social liberal who believes that capitalism is essentially a good thing, but must have oversight from the government. There’s a balance as to what the government should and shouldn’t be involved in with business, and I think that right now the country actually manages that pretty well. I’m not quite sure that this is socialism, unless your definition of it is far different than mine. I’m not sure if there’s a particular issue you had in mind, but that’s what it is.
And I am in print journalism. I work for the newspapers.

I hope you are considering a different career path soon. You can already hear the death rattle for newspaper industry.
Oh I know. The Star-Ledger, the biggest daily in the state, almost went under a couple weeks ago. Would have been a shame because they do some of the best investigative journalism on all of the ridiculous corruption in the state… the politicians would have loved to see it go.
It’s a stepping stone job, to be truthful. My plan is to work for a magazine in NY eventually, or something along those lines. Something that pays better and I don’t have to worry about having a job the following year.

What if all the US government did was uphold its obligations to protect life, liberty and property?
Why do businesses need their own special laws to protect or punish them?

Because laissez faire capitalism is a dangerous thing. It leads to things like child labor, no minimum wage, monopolies, and a host of other problems.
The government has done a good job on reigning in business when necessary. And it has been necessary.
