Nice try though.

Meanwhile, a quick google nets me “Upstate duo arrested for creating child pornography with infant,” which situation is so vile, I don’t want to post it. It’s about a traditional m/f couple and the baby they violated, probably hers. In a “related link” I see the title “Upstate New York man admits to posing as teen boy to trick daughter into sending naked photos.” These are real. : (

I think I’ll go back to my chart notes.

I think you need to revise your search terms. Fuck.

Sorry. Here, let me help you relax…

Those assholes can’t piss all over a purity like this.

You must know this article is a joke, right?

“We are KRBC News (Keep Real, Be Cool!). . . This should go without saying, but everything on this website is purely for entertainment purposes. We are in no way affiliated, or trying to look like we are affiliated with any local news station.”

Yes, I do. But it is so close to plausible that it is hard to tell, isn’t it?

So much so that a snopes article was written the day it went up.

And I you. We hold differing views, that’s all, and I was raised to respect that others can believe differently without being bad or even wrong. “When good men argue, both are right,” said someone whose name I can’t recall.

Although I think you’re wrong on this matter!

Public bathrooms aren’t safe for anyone to begin with. Why assume that just because you’re surrounded by the same gender that you’re safe? My brother was attacked in a rest-stop bathroom stall in Germany years ago on a business trip. Alexandra Zapp was murdered in a Burger King restroom by a male repeat sex offender in 2002. And just this month, a teen girl was killed in a fight with other girls in her school’s bathroom just minutes away from where I live. ANYONE can walk into ANY bathroom and harm someone.

Why create hostility for transgender people (who are already experiencing hostility from an ignorant public), by turning the simple act of relieving themselves, into a safety liability? Do a few sex offenders and perverts suddenly define the entire transgender community?

And speaking of sex offenders and perverts, the average sentence for a child molester in the USA is 7 years. Of those 7 years they typically serve 3. THREE! Of those arrested, 43% re-offend within 2-3 years. Out of all those convicted, an overwhelming 70% are white males. What bathroom should these men use? Where is the proposed legislation to keep sexual offenders out of bathrooms, and if there has been any, why are we not talking about that? Why are we not doing more to keep the scumbags who hurt our children behind bars? Why is that not a pressing issue at the forefront of our political agenda, instead of demonizing transgender people on the whole?

I don’t know - I didn’t follow the link, just read the post, and assumed legitimacy given the context in which I read it. I found it shocking and dubious - surely this is not “the LBGT community,” but rather a lunatic fringe. I absolutely believe the Dorothy Wright character could be real. Idiots abound. That part seemed perfectly reasonable to me, unfortunately. A friend of mine, an editor for a national magazine, is on her kids’ PTA, or whatever. She posted a long email exchange, which became more and more intense (my friend wanted to switch dates to allow people to attend the meeting). The exchange ended in this, from the PTA president, a Dorothy Wright-alike:

12:14 PM (1 hour ago)

Remember we all adults nobody ain’t baby sit nobody. We here advocacy for our ANGELS and parents, so all the personal issues keep to your self, and keep been a team player by doing your job position that we all was voted in for.

Thanks Again,
President

This in response to my friend’s statement that:

I’m not taking anything personally. I just think we’re misunderstanding each other again. No one is discussing changing the Parent Council meeting date.

As for the Executive meeting, that whole point of it is to meet before the Parent Council meeting to set the agenda, so it doesn’t make sense to move it to the day after. We already agreed to reschedule it by not having it on Monday as was originally planned. Now we just need to figure out when we can do it before Parent Council on April 13.

So sadly, the shrieking idiocy didn’t surprise me. I just figured it highlighted one idiot rather than the thoughts or feelings of a group.

I don’t claim to BE a Libertarian. I claim to hold views on all sides of the spectrum. That particular view, that people should exercise free will in the matter of bathroom choice until/unless they engage in criminal behavior (I am not allowed to peek under the stall at other women in the bathroom, either, despite my gender) is closer to libertarian. Same as my feelings on gun ownership, come to think about it.

‘Not necessarily about safety’? My friend, we have already established that, for you, this has nothing to do with safety. It’s purely reactionary–a defense of a mythical 6000 y.o. culture with its supposedly static notions of propriety, and unchanging mores.
