Its just a fkin movie for christ sakes. Too many of you guys get too wraped up in contemplating the philosophy behind it. Its just a fancy “B” movie which has a different concept then most, and makes use of cutting-edge special effects. Too many of you guys must be “dragon master” geeks hoping for their next fantasy world to live in, and disapointed because the philosophies and story didn’t live up to your expectations. What you should be worried about is: was it worth a night out? your money? more entertaining then staying home and wacking off or watching TV?
I just can’t understand why so many people wouldn’t like the second movie (I’m seeing Revolutions tonight). I absolutely loved the 1st one and I thought the second one was just as good. Unbelievable action sequences (Neo/agent fight scene and highway chase scene) and the story seemed good to me. Yes, there’s some unanswered questions, but the story still challenged you to think. It seems like a lot of people are very hard to please when it comes to movies or they try to always find 2 or 3 flaws to pick out and then conclude the whole movie sucks. Why is it that with a trilogy, people almost always hate the subsequent films? Is it becuz they know what to expect now? I just don’t understand all the criticism. The first 2 movies already in my mind qualify right up there with the best sci-fi series ever put out. 1st 3 Star Wars movies being the other. Yes, there are others that I like too.
Inmate#22…
…Wacking off to the T.V or does it have to be either/or?
Cause it matters, you know.
“Meetings are an addictive, highly self-indulgent activity that corporations and other large organizations habitually engage in only because they cannot actually masturbate”
~ Dave Barry
Prisoner#22…very well said. I found the 1st 2 highly enjoyable and I’m looking forward to seeing the last one tonight…and I KNOW I’ll like it.
Moral of the story (and not just this thread): Expect nothing.
If it sucks, you don’t have the downfall.
If it is good, then you are pleasantly surpised.
This was the best Christian movie I’ve ever seen!
I don’t know why they felt the need to beat us over the head with the religious message in this one… the other two worked better with subtlety.
I haven’t seen the third yet but i’d just like to say a few things…
First off the matrix is a one of a kind movie, nothing comes close to it’s originality (action sceene wise). Second maybe some of you were upset with the second one because you had to wait 6 months for pt. 3. Also i think it’s a pretty cool movie because you actually have to use your brain to understand it. Maybe that’s why some people don’t like the second one. The first movie was pretty stright forward. The second one got into a little more detail which actually required that little mouse in your head to run. Anyways, i’m going to see the last one tonight should be decent.
My opinions…The first one kicked ass. Second one was cool, not as good as the first. I say this because the cgi was a little too fake and it had some shitty sceenes. But overall i’d give the first a 8.9 and the second a 7.8 out of 10
i wack off with my tv on, kill 2 birds with one stone.
well put prisoner.
1st Best fight scene ever:
Happy Gilmore vs Bob Barker
2nd best fight scene:
2nd Matrix, Swarm of Smiths
3rd The Trees in Lord of the rings…
I liked the Battle Scene in the Dock area in the 3rd Matrix. Lots of sceaming and emotion. Just like my typical work day!
I still didn’t get what the Indian girl had to do with anything.
I thought the trainman was cool.
So were the battles.
The Oracle died in real life while filming the movie, so that fucked up the movie a bit.
Mixed feelings here.
Although I read all of your comments before seeing it, I still had some surprises in the way the film delivered the goods.
But, overall, it sucks more than it kicks ass. Specially the neverending Superman-style fight. YAWN.
The Matrix jumped the shark in Reloaded when Neo got his real world powers. Totally. Worse yet, that`s the bedrock for the entire film and the happy ending. The One was just fine (IN the Matrix) in the first film, thankyouverymuch.
But no. Neo couldnt just be a superbrain that could hack the Matrix. He had to have it in real life too. He couldnt do it with wits and/or skills. He had to have powers. This film needed a real life Messiah. The horror. The horror.
There`s so many whole in the way things are explained and the way it ends (keep all options open for sequels -bleagh - and keep everybody happy).
At least now we know that all previous Matrix reincarnations went through each time. Next time, just hit Reset please.
Long live the Bad Guys. They make much more sense than the heroes. Long live TRON too.
While I was a little disappointed with revolutions, I have to say, I will never get tired of Hugo Weaving’s character, Agent Smith…The ending definitely needed some work, and I was completely shocked when Trinity died, Fishburne was less than remarkable, and Jada Pinkett Smith shouldn’t have been in any of the Matrix’s…Final verdict, they should’ve stopped after the first one…
SPOILER AHEAD.
Yeah.
What`s that Neo dies and then the Deus Ex Machina comes up and finishes the job by killing Smith?
Absolutely stupid. Either 1) Neo wasn`t useful/necessary at all to start, since the Machine killed Smith and clones by itself at the end OR 2) Neo was just cannon fodder the bait/weaken Smith.
Maybe Neos the One for humans, but in the way the film finishes, hes Zero, for reasons said in the preceding paragraphs.
Also, if Neo had predecessors in the past incarnations of the Matrix, Smith must have had the same. Therefore, the end of the world scenario is just a cyclic thing repeating itself. And no person of the cast was that ncessary. It`s just a cyclic bug that needs cleaning ever so often.
The Architect was right. Hes not in the system, he is above the system, like the Men In Black. Makes you wonder who put him there, and who he serves. Now THATS a question. He`s like Uatu the Watcher in the Marvel comics.
I dont understand how anyone could be dissapointed with this movie if you fully understand it? The superman fight scene was kick ass by the way. The movie was full of action and the plot was clever. The love story and the fight of zion was a little dragged on but that doesnt make a movie suck.
Dan,
I think that the whole moebius strip thing couldn’t have ocured before because as smith says something hanged when Neo dives through him at the end of the first movie so we have to assume that non of the others did that. The way I read it was that the oracle told Neo that he and Smith were the antithesis of each other and were neccesary checks and balances in the matrix to continue the architects plan and that at the end Neo won the fight by cancelling out the remainders, if for example he was positive and Smith was negative then smith converting Neo to him would cancel out his exsitence due to there being no opposite, just as if Neo had killed smith then he must have had to die as Smith is neccesary for his exsitence too!
Apart from that I thought the movie was pretty cool and the upside down fight scene rocked (almost as much as monica bellucci’s chest!)
STU
DRSTU: Your point of view makes sense.
I’ll have some more to post later on.
Matrix is the one where the wacky kids all get detention, but that one wild and crazy guy convinces the others to skip out and go on fun adventures and they wreck that other guys dad’s car, right? That will teach that stupid principle. I hate that movie.
synerjism…excellent story.
Drstu is right on the money! thats what I got out of this movie. And I enjoyed it. I think it was a fitting end to it.
drstu followed it,who else thinks neo turns into the oracle in the end? the convo between oracle and architect was odd if it wasn’t neo reincarnated. “it was quite the chance you took making the choice you made” i think that goes back to the choise neo made in which door he opened when meeting the architect the first time in reloaded. i think all previous neos chose the other door and saved zion to be rebuilt from select humans. i liked the doc fight as well, the sentinels moved like schools of fish in the ocean. and whats wrong with the sunshine ending? it depicts the new dawn between man and the machines. finaly some good light on all the darkness. in a hurry watch for spelling
