Matrix Revolutions

greek
great analogy. i’m sure you could have wrote a much better story huh.lol

when did the 3rd come out? i thought the first was one of the most innovative and original movies ever, and i thought the second was an attempt to cash in on the firsts popularity, just a really shitty movie. i’ll still see the 3rd though

The problem with the Matrix Revolutions wasn’t that I didn’t get a propper grasp of it because I din’t understand the philosphy behind it, the problem was it was like a soap opera. I don’t know if it was worse when neo tried to act “distraught” at trinity’s death, the fucking weak ass explanation of why the oracle was a different lady, or the interracial love hug at the end. The movie ends with a goddamned beautiful sunset for christsakes. I felt like I was watching a Disney movie.

I think the problem with the two sequels is that they are trying to tackle philosophical issues that are too large and complex to be properly flushed out in a two hour action movie that only contains 15 minutes of dialogue. The original was great in that it merely expressed the ?brain in a vat? theory in a simple form, without delving into all of the other philosophical issues, paradigms and leg traps expressed in the two sequels. (If you don?t believe me just check out the 5am conversation Neo has with the Chancellor in the second film)

I think the comment that someone didn?t like the movie probably has more to do with the fact that the two sequels are plague by lack of flow and bad acting and not because people can?t/don?t understand the watered down treatments of the philosophical issues expressed…

My 02.

somebody give all the details, I hate surprises and don’t want to wait to see the movie. I want to know everything, if you don’t then skip over the replies. Does neo and trinity really die? What happens, tell me please.

I’m with mdog, the movie kicks ass. There so much going on it makes your headspin (philosophically).

lol. the oracle died in real life during the making. im sure that screwed with the story line some what.

Like my sister said “Go in with low expectations and the movie isn’t that bad!”

Personally Im not to thrilled by it. I was hoping that either the humans or the machines would be wiped out. I wanted the blood or oil to poor threw the streets and drown the other group.

oh well …at least LOTR is going to be good!!!

Interesting discusion. I loved the first one, thought that the second once sucked and actually liked the third one.

I did not think that it was great by any means and it did have several cheesy scenes, but I liked it overall.

Much better than the second. No doubt about that. More tension, content, etc.

mdog,

whether or not I could have written a better story has nothing to do with it. you clearly lack the means to effective debate.

it still sucks.

by the way, my dad can beat up your dad.

yeah real debatable, alls you say is it’s sucked, that’s YOUR opionion. i’m not going to waste time debating your opionion.

it’s not my fault you buitl your self up and was let down that the movie didn’t meet your expectations. you do this with women as well?

oh yeah well my dad will fuck your dad, and give your mom the pics.

for the record one time my dad was at the grocery store and two “tough guy biker dudes” were giving him dirty looks and laughing at him.

he walked up to them, groceries in hand and said “wtf you laughing at?”

biker dude says “you old man!”

dad punches biker dude in face, knocks him to the ground and says “now whos the old man?” groceries still in hand.

there is many more where that came from too. my dad thinks he is a cross between clint eastwood and john wayne.

mdog,

no I don’t do that with women, but judging the way your dad is, I assume you do that with men?

I don’t get why people are all over these films because they’re all “philosophical”. Why are you so impressed by this? I remember when some people where all over “Armageddon” because of alot of references to the bible etc. I just don’t get it. The bible and some other religious and philosophical ideas are fairly widely known, so they are an effective thing to use references to, because you can comunicate a lot through relatively little. This is a good technique, but it isn’t impressive in and of itself. If all your movie has going for it is references to major philosophers, that’s not enough to make it good.

yeah p dog, well let me tell u about my dad. one day he was busking in the streets playing some tunes on his electric guitar when out of no where a group of biker ninjas came and tried to cramp his style.

ninja 1 says “fight us old dad”

dad says “fight this”… as he busted a sick riff in there faces!

they died and i lived to tell this tale, i was that dad.

end

I loved Revolutions, was disappointed in Reloaded but still liked it, and of course loved the original.

Like someone said, it’s stupid to say “you can’t critique something unless you can write something better”. So only filmmakers can critique a movie? And better ones than the ones who made the movie? Absurd.

Also, the “you didn’t like it becuase you didn’t understand it” is tired and absurd as well. I loved it, but other people didn’t, not everyone has to like the movie. There isn’t a movie in the world that everyone likes, so why expect everyone to like this one? A movie should stand on its own without relying on “philosophy” to be considered great. What little philosophy there actually is in the thing. Like I said, I loved it, surprised that I did. Loved the battle for Zion, loved the agent smith/neo fight, loved the ending, had alot of flaws, but a great ride and end to the trilogy.

ROFL

i love pissing contests. in fact, im gonna drop my pants right now and piss in this little spot so no one else can have it…

ok done. btw, the only things that I have against the movie are the indecisive ending (room for sequels = bad) and the universal action movie cliche

“i wont let you down”

greek
you got something against photographers?

your all right. just saying it sucked is weak. so i gave an equaly weak reply, i was trying to provoke a thoughtfully response, instead i get if i shit on your door step.lol

the philosophy i was refering to is how they tied all these multiple hypothesis together. Robert Nozick experiance machine,Jonathan Dancy “brain in a vat”,
Rene Descartes and his “Meditations” his views on dreaming and reality and more all tied together. then u have the religious aspect, neo is jesus or the one who will return to save all,Morpheus is John the Baptist, Cypher is the Judas. anyways if you to the offical site and check out the philosophy sec on the main frame, it’s all explained in greater detail than i have time to explain.
