Santa squats. Heavy. (Okay, that’s not Cahling, but it fits. So sue me.)

As far as I’ve seen, he’s still a lacto-vegetarian (allows dairy), possibly allows eggs too. I don’t think he was ever a strict vegan.

Very cool lineup all around, and it is kinda weird seeing guys in the Master’s comp when even I remember reading about their pro debut. Dex Jackson, Darrem Charles, Dennis James, Alves, etc. I do get that it’s a “Master’s” contest, but still seems strange having guys closer to 40 on stage with guys in their 60s and 70s.

The field has changed quite a bit. 40 used to be old. Now, many of the guys most relate to pro bodybuilding are near their 40’s.

Pretty much. I just did a quick run-through…

Age range of the Top 10 at this year’s Master’s Olympia: 40-43 years old (two exceptions. Alves and Freeman were both 46).

Age range of the Top 10 at this year’s Mr. Olympia: 32-41 years old (two exceptions. Centopani was 30, Freeman was [still] 46).

Muscle maturity might not be in a textbook, but it seems legit.

Good post. How many sports can you say you peak at 40? (Yes, I know there are a few. I meant it rhetorically.) Just another reason I love the sport.
