heres my question…how lean should one be approximately before they decided to eat like this. i have vascular arms and some in my calves but can only see the top abs and have fat to lose on the bottom. 6 footer, 220 with waist 35 3/4, chest skinfold 7mm, hip 14mm and abs 20mm (vertical) thuoghts? id guess 14%

Either I’m miscalculating or this diet is insane! At 202lbs I worked out that I need to have about 4200 cals (don’t remember the exact figure, my calculations are at work). Using the carb plan, it seems as though I need 60g protein per meal!! (35% protein). That’s 300g of chicken or 17 egg whites per meal! Please tell me I made a big mistake… this is an unearthly amount of food… I think.

Jagin, that sounds pretty accurate to me. As long as all your calculations were correct. Considering I’m 145lb, I need more than 3,100 calories a day and at least 215g of protein per day. It’s a tough diet to follow. I’m still a little under what I need. But I figure that even if I don’t get exactly what I need, just the fact that I’m getting more protein and calories than I had been, I should make some gains. :slight_smile:

so what body fat percentage are you guys starting at and suggesting to not start above?

I need some input from you guys. I am 5’6 (a bit taller from Nate Dogg :P) and weigh about 140 lbs.
I’ve been following the forum for quite a while and this is a damn awesome forum i’ve found in the web so far. By that i mean it’s so full of info.

Anyways, i am trying to bulk up now. Well, you know not fat of course. I want MUSCLE, solid muscle. I am planning to use 3025 cals this Sunday and i workout on Sunday/Monday/Wednesday/Friday. My proportion is close to this: 48/37/15.

My question is what should i do during the days where i don't workout at all? I mean how much calories should i take? 3025 or should i reduce it? It's so funny that i tried to avoid aerobics at all this week and the result is amazing. Some of the flab is gone and my pant is getting loose. However, i need some more bulk (again: Muscle not fat).

HEY ALL! I’ve tried this diet by Mr. Berardi, by doing high carb/protein and protein/fat meals.

IT WORKS!!! Actually, i never have flatulence with the same food combination since following
the program for almost a week now.

chris…there’s no set bodyfat to start at. If you’re looking to add size, then go ahead and get started with Massive Eating. If you’re not sure and maybe looking to shed some fat, then maybe this isn’t for you.

Andy...the premise behind this approach to dieting is to figure calories needed for training days and eat that amount on training AND off days. By eating surplus on the off days, you are supplying your body with the excess calories needed to add muscle.

(my girlfriends adress) could you please give me an eating program or a hint of what kinds of food to eat. I am also interested in trying the new Mag-10, but I am skeptical about using the product. My skin is very sensitive to anything that boosts my testosterone, which is my biggest concern. I am nineteen and I’m 5’10 220 with about ten percent body fat. I try to eat at least six meals a day which mainly consist of eggs, steak, chicken, and lots of oatmeal. I usually take in around 275-300 g of protein, 500g of carbs, and 40g of fat. Money is tight so I can’t take that many supplements. So my main question is what to eat and what supplements to take with 100 dollar leway for the month. Hey Nate Dogg, can you please clarify the position on caffeine? Does it or does it not cause an insulin burst? In which case is it a no- no for P + F meals?

I think caffeine only increases insulin response when Carbs are present, which makes its worse because it also blunts muscle insulin sensitivity by about 20%.

I have read that caffeine does block the conversion of flaxseed oil into EPA/DHA, so if you drink coffee with P & F, then take fish oil caps. Remember the half-life of caffeine is about 6 hours.
