Damn this game is awesome the shooting feels like just like a real shooter and the story is even better so far well worth the money so far.
haha this thread is great, i played yesterday for about 5 hours…im a level 17 soldier now and im in the process of getting all my squad members to become loyal…the only thing thats a pain in the ass is when you gotta scan the planets for elements…the scanner is so fuckin slow!!!

Me and my 17 year old stepson destroyed this game all weekend. I will say he got the upgrade to increase the speed of scanning and that makes a big difference.

just beat it with my first character. Jack and Thane died on the suicide mission. I’m going through a second time with a Renegade Infiltrator instead of a Paragon Vanguard.
oh and the final battle/cutscene of the game? priceless.
I’ve almost completed it. Some thoughts (rants?):
I expected to be tougher as a soldier (I was unkillable in the first one with abilities), granted I’m playing on a harder difficulty, but I get shredded in seconds out in the open. Not as much with the armor/shields/health upgrades I’ve gotten but in the beginning I had the durability of a wet paper bag, not fun.
Squad members still suck (probably less useless in the first one). I tell them to go somewhere 10 times before (if) they move their lazy asses there. Their accuracy is still shit. I still end up killing 95% of the stuff. Their only saving grace were powers in the first one which are handicapped like crazy in ME2 (can’t throw/lift/slam armored opponents for some reason).
Whoever decided the guns of the future (which didn’t require ammo 2 years before, mind you) needed fucking ammo should be shoot in the face. Having to use ammo (thermal clips, whatever…) feels like a huge step backwards and forces me to scour around for “loot,” which was one of the things ME1 did right, cutting down on having to loot enemies streamlines everything. Having to look for thermal clips so you can make it through the next firefight without resorting to your pistol does not.
I suppose at the end of the day the shit they fucked up (in my opinion, of course) is offset by the stuff they fixed. Still brings the awesomeness that I’ve come to expect out of Bioware games, but more frustration than I remember in the first one.

yeah pretty much. i’d much rather scan a planet then drive across some copy/pasted terrain looking for downed probes and shiny boulders.
and the thermal clips thing sucks fiction wise, but gameplay wise it creates a little more tension. will you have enough ammo to take down that Ymir Mech? you better fucking hope so.

I just spent hours on this game. I feel like I was on a 2 day crack binge ala Rick James(R.I.P.)
So far:
-Everyone is loyal to me
-I’m a nut hair away from banging the white chick
-I’m level 20
-I got all the characters(except for a specific one that is part of downloadable content)
I’m gonna do a few more side quests, scan and probe few more planets, bang the human chick or bang one of many aliens, and then continue on the main mission.
the downloadable character (the merc) is badass
