Amen to the painkillers thing. UGH! I don’t get the recreational use of those things. And TMI but they made me constipated. LOL! I took them for the first three days, and then was happy to get off of them. Yes, that means I have half a bottle of Vicodin in my medicine cabinet. So, if I slam a finger in the car door, I’m all set!
It’s been almost three weeks and my appetite is finally back. Mine might have been worse since it was my torso involved. Anything that made me feel full hurt because it pushed out on my stitches. I did drop a couple of pounds in the first two weeks.

so glad to hear that things went smoothly. i hate hospitals, too. all sterile and crisp. glad to hear that people were kind to you, though, and that the hospital stuffs is all over now!!! i do understand the appeal of recreational drug use - but i never much enjoyed my pain meds, either. got myself off them as soon as possible because i simply didn’t seem to ‘get’ them in any potential recreational sense at all. i heard something about morphine, though, that it gets you high if there isn’t any pain to kill whereas if there is pain then it kills it without getting you high. something about how people in severe pain can metabolize and cope with doses that would kill them when they weren’t in severe pain and they don’t get high when they take it in pain. not sure if that is true and how much other pain killers might work like that.
i do remember thinking at one point that the hospital had developed a severe cockroach problem, though. scuttly black things out the corner of my eye. they were, like, as big as rats. once they got as big as cats and then dogs i realized i was probably hallucinating ha! pain meds reduced not long after that :-/
junk on your legs makes it hard to sleep. can’t toss and turn very naturally. here’s to a swift recovery! 110% real soon.
