Lol me too, we rock a Pernil on Thanksgiving (along with turkey) turkey is meh anyways…Im having the same issues at the gym as well this week, maybe its my period lol.
I have a tub of unflavoured Whey Cool at home but it’s a bit frothy for my liking. I guess it would be OK stirred into oats or used for baking protein cookies or something but I don’t enjoy drinking it, even if I add flavouring. Still, it is good quality.
My latest love is banoffee flavour whey (from a UK company). You’d probably like that one.

How are you going to do this?[/quote]
Peaches!! Hai! (another nickname I stole from Hallie - is it ok I call you this? Its really fits you perfectly!)
Not doing anything extraordinary really. Just being very diligent with the rolling and stretching. Basically I use a LAX ball and the foam roller to roll teh shit out my flexors, my glutes and my IT band. And then I go into a bunch of stretching, the usual runners stretch and other psoas stretches, plus I hit the hammies and glutes…so yeah, nothing “new” just more of it. Like before and after training and on off days…its pretty annoying actually. But it must be done!
I also have switched my work chair and I’m sitting on one of those stupid back-health chairs that looks like a stool, not sure what they’re called. But essentially I sit on it with my leg dangling off of it, so that my flexors aren’t always in 90 degree angle.
What’s interesting is that not only was I able to identify that my Left glute is a lazy bastard, but I also realized that my left flexor is the one that’s always in pain! And then recently my left hip started hurting…its so fucked up!
Germanone recommended a book on the escogue method for pain relief a while back - I ordered it yesterday and I’m waiting for it to arrive so I can be “pain free for life.” We’ll see.
Anyways, sorry for the rant but all this to say that I’m working on my flexors! But…I still haven’t seen any improvement. Flexor still hurts, left glute sill lazy. MEH!
Peaches! Since you spin quite a bit, you should be wary of your hip flexors too! So definitely keep them in mind, you don’t want to end up like me ![]()

Lol, Peaches is fine.
Spin is exactly why I asked, and why I’ve been bitching about my hips so much in my log. I can tell it’s going to be an issue if I don’t start paying attention to them. I was hoping you have some sort of magic fix. Like I just press here lightly and painlessly with my hand and it fixes everything. It’s never like that, huh.
I’ll have to google this escogue thing. It sounds like snails.
Now to catch up on the rest of the log!
OK I am going to be a bit of a naive Aussie here and state why do you eat turkey on this day? Is it like Australia day which is an excuse to cook something yummy on a BBQ (but I do this every day sometimes twice).
But I do know Osso Buco is delish, Osso Buco cooked up by a little old immigrant lady with a life time of experience and love of food would be even more delish, Osso Buco cooked up by a little old immigrant lady with a life time of experience and love of food served up with Maschy at the dinner table with you - well that would be thanks giving! Ha
Sorry for crapping along in your log Masch, keep killing it hottie.
Spook
Hope things settle Mami ![]()
Take a breather, eat some turkey day grub and all will be right with the world once again.
your Mom’s Osso Bucco!!!
please adopt me.
kthxbai ![]()
damn
Im rehabbing- brining and cooking a turkey
then doing dishes
your having osco busco
dang
was thinking of your snatch pull questions
did some today- and revisited the ‘cues’
thought about keeping my chin up seemed to work-
these crush my quads- sorry no vids today
Ibuprofen is my solution for pain.
And if that doesn’t help, I just suck it up and deal with it.
Well, try to…
Heh, my left glute is lazy too and yes, I have issues with the left flexor. I do foam roll and stuff but I spend so much time gaming at my PC that it never really unwinds. I am bad.
“neurological wrecking ball”, I’ll have to use that one.

I think this is partly due to my split getting all fucked up schedule-wise and lack of sleep and being overworked. But I think its also due to the fact that I’m finding my fellow gym goers always in my mother fucking way! Its so fucking annoying. Yes I need all these items for my front foot elevated BSS, yes I need these boxes for my box squats, yes I need these balls for my pushups (metaphoric?) - can everyone please just leave the gym for two hours? kthnx!

You need to work on your “TALK TO ME AND YOU DIE” look. I recommend picturing everyone in the gym as your least favorite Jersey Shore character.

Wait, you, don’t go! I have a question for you!!
On the box squats, don’t you think its better for me as a soccer player to do a paused box squat rather than touch and go? I feel like if i take a second on the box and go “slack” so to speak I’ll work more of that explosive strength that i want/need for my soccer playing?
Thoughts? anyone? Bueller?
Also, my gym is totally like the Jersey shore!
Which would make me Ronnie…
fist pump

Haha you crack me up.
I can’t speak to soccer specifically. For me PERSONALLY, I find it much easier to be explosive when tightness is maintained. Maybe this is because I’m used to jumping in volleyball and basketball - you coil yourself like a spring and unload as quickly as possible.
But also, it just seems that it is hard to be as explosive from a deadstop. Think about deadlifts, you can’t just “slam” into the bar or you’ll tear half the tendons in your body. You have to “pull the slack out”, lift it a millimeter off the ground… it takes a nanosecond of holding it before you subsconsciously know exactly how the weight will feel in your hand, THEN you explode up. Compare to a squat where you are lowering yourself until you hit depth, then you hit that point and you are instantly exploding as fast as you can.
That being said this is all about my own anecdotal evidence, I have never trained anyone for a sport and I stopped playing soccer long before I started weight training. If someone more experienced with training soccer players is suggesting something different, go with that.

Hmm…yeah I think you’re right! This here “Compare to a squat where you are lowering yourself until you hit depth, then you hit that point and you are instantly exploding as fast as you can.” makes total sense!
And I agree, if i were to try them with a second pause on the box, I definitely lose tightness…
I guess I was thinking more along the lines that in soccer you use explosive strength, like for jumping, heading and what not, and that is mainly a concentric movement…but I don’t know shit.
I just read a piece from DeFranco on box squats, who recommended reading Dave Tate’s article on box squats (lulz!) - so i’ll continue doing my research in the meantime stick with the touch and go style.
Thanks sweet cheeks!!
And Kev - thanks for the cues! I wrote them all down and I’m ready to murder some deads on Thurs! And don’t worry, your youtube has plenty of vids to keep me busy for minutes ![]()
As for the rest of youse - thanks for poppin’ in!
I’m currently fighting off some sort of sickness that has me sounding like a truck stop hooker. Its pretty sexy, especially considering that my normal voice is so fucking grating.
I am a bit annoyed though because I know who gave it to me and from the time he spent bitching and moaning, it sounded like a pretty nasty flu. But he’s weak and frail (and pasty!). And I’m robust and strong like bull! So I think I can beat it! I MUST! I have deads on Thurs FFS.
So with the use of common sense and practical magic, i’m trying to prevail over this stupid ailment - or at least hold it off until Friday…fingers crossed, legs uncrossed
Until then my beautiful pilgrims, have a wonderful Sanksgiving!! (as my mother says)
I could have taken care of you last weekend!
On the real, I’ll let you know next time I’m in the city. I think I’ll be up for New Years.
