Ok, so just to bring everything right back down to the bitter reality that is my life, today I had the shittiest pullups session ever!

I was supposed to do 10 sets of 4…but instead I did:

4, 4, 2, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 0 < ZERO! FUCKING ZERO! HAHA! Oh man…

So basically, I did less than half the number of pullups I did last time I trained these. Yeah, blows.

I am hormonal, so maybe that has something to do with it. And I did supserset these with clapping pushups which were also hard tonight…but still!!

Anyways, not getting deterred. More fuel for the fire, bitches! I’m going to test my max in 2 weeks and reassess, til then its on like donkey kong! (shout out to G-Ron!)

Also, I think I’m ready to pull some DLs from the ground. I’m going to pull conventional altho I like sumo MUCH better - but not sure the knee is ready for sumo yet.

Anyways, I’m planning on pulling overhand and I’m just curious whether I should have my hands in a snatch grip (i.e. wide), or whether I should just pull overhand in a more conventional shoulder-width grip? Does it even matter?

Any thoughts on this, much appreciated!

I think KMCNYC (Kev) does alot of snatch grip deads, I believe they are harder. but I never did em like that…(a lot help I was right there!)

Are you doing only wide grip pullups? How about alternating between wide, Neutral and supinated for da gunnnzzzz!

Goal was 40. Does it really matter how you get there? Just get to 40, even if it’s 40 singles. 19 does not count.

I’m w/Mainey on the supersetting. Especially clap push-ups. A lot of undo stress on the arms. If anything I would suggest doing a shoulder ex.

Depends what you want out of it. Snatch grip you feel all across your upper back the next day. Conventional, you can pull more weight and it’s obviously quads/hams/glutes/low back

Experiment with both, see which you like.

Guys that are into working out (yanno, like we are) are HIGHLY DISINCLINED to approach a woman at the gym… they think to themselves that would be assholish interrupting someone’s workout. I have had this convo with SEVERAL men that workout and this is what each of them has independently said about it. They also say they feel like assholes when they catch themselves LOOKING at a girl too long. So, it has nothing to do with you and more to do with their sense of manners.

  1. Those who take training seriously and who I assume do not want to be interrupted
  2. Those who don’t take it seriously and I would never approach anyway

masch! i’m learning all about the act of building up pull up power from checking out the things Harry prescribes to various people who ask him for help. It varies for everyone!

Nadia warned me that he starts out slow–she started with 5 sets of 2. yes, the queen who can pop out 15 in a set started out that slow. REALLY!!! and only once a week. it can’t be wrong! OH!! And Alexus is doing it too!! we can be a trio!

I like only doing them once a week too because they kick my ass! as for grip too…i kinda give myself a bit of a ego boost by hands being slightly less to equal to shoulder width apart. Probably easier that way but its enough pull up for my checklist. Maybe mess about and see which suits you best.

I also would not approach a chick who was doing actual work in the gym, except possibly to comment positively about said work being done.

And yeah, the other type… pfft.

Print, hiya daddy! Actually, the goal wasn’t 40 reps. The goal was 10x4. My methodology is to hit 10 sets - once I hit 40 in total I move up to 10x5. If I had to hit 40 reps through singles, I’d be there all day! And that’s a good point on the pushups, but I just ran the last cycle with front raises and rear delt raises, I’m over it. I want something new and fun!

Ddot! Thanks for stopping in! And thanks on the props. I agree on alternating the grips. Normally I’d do neutral grip, which is easier for me than pronated. And I used to train my chins on the reg and but chins BLEW UO my bis. Plus I really, REALLY want pronated to get strong. But soon I’ll start alternating!

I’m kinda surprised he says to only do them 1x a week - so many other people tout frequency training with pullups. Kinda cool that he employs a whole different method! And yeah, WG pullups are so hard!! I also do mine a little bit out of shoulder width. I mean, yeesh!! You’re gonna rock those pullups! And you know what else, I can already picture how totally rockin’ your body is going to be!!
