Ok, so thanks to all of you I had to do some research on these Anderson squats, a.k.a “deadstop front squats,” a.k.a “full stop front squats” (Duh, Lula, you were right!)- I just did them since they looked “fun” and I figured they’d be good for me with the knee situ, but I see they have a purpose beyond just my enjoyment. I actually didn’t find much on them aside from what Git said, that they’re good for starting strength, and then a bit from this Dan John article where he says, “Eight weeks on this exercise will do wonders for anyone having trouble coming up with cleans, and its value for people with knee trouble is unquestioned, as no stress is put on the injured joint.”

And one random training update of note:
I am so fucking dead set on getting these 10 consecutive pullups by the end of the year. It will happen! slams fist on table
My current max is 5 consecutive pullups - so need to double that in 6 weeks. I say its doable. You know me, I’m an optimist.
New plan of attack is as such - along with my regular 10 sets of pullups on one my upper day, I will also employ 5 sets of weighted pullups on my other upper body day, all while attempting to (FML) lean out…again!
I tried the weighted pullups last week with 10lbs and I was only able to eek out 5 singles. But I think they’ll be quite effective if kept consistent. Plus, I ain’t gonna lie, the pump was RIDIC! And I loved it. The boys were looking at me and i could tell they were green with envy. Nothing like massive arm pump to cock-block yourself. Lol! tear
I dunno…only one way to find out though!

With you playing soccer, your posterior chain will need even more emphasis. Starting speed, acceleration, deceleration, cutting and juking, are like almost all hamstring, glute, low-back, and calf work. You will run and jump faster and farther with this training, and the added back strength from those pull-ups helps to offset the torque you create with your push-off leg. In other words, all this shit you are doing is also making you faster.
