You wanna know what’s nuts? I dreamt that I saw you in my PT place! Do you go to one in the equinox? I will be super mad if my sexy lean cuisine PT guy is pulling stunts behind my back! But not surprised that you go 2x a week…
And Coliseum is what I though. UGH! Its so far away from me!!
ANDY!!! Hai…I hope you get back into Oly soon too!!

You know what even if your kidding I can say Masch is dreaming of Me! YAHTZEEEEE!!!
I actually have gone for some deep tissue work at equinox on Court stree but not in a few years! This was during the time when I though I was big willy and could pay 175 bucks a month for a gym membership and eucalyptus infused steam rooms.
Damn I miss that place.
Running and oly! Nice!
You are my inspiration!
Hi Maschy,
Well done on your progress! Your an inspiration to me, as I struggle through my own injury(osteitis pubis or adductor tendinopathy).
I would like to see you do some simple juggling for 10 minutes as a simple warm up. Its time to work on your touch and feel for ball. Do you have anyone to throw the ball to you? I want to work on your head, chest and thigh control aswell.

yay so happy for you!!! How did training go??
and how did the leggy measurements stack up? you said you were going to measure them before your surgery. ![]()
Well done getting back into the Oly Masch!
Spook
Great news about the run and the return to oly lifting. I bet you’re stoked. Best of luck!
wow, i missed running! congrats!
hope the oly stuff goes well for you. it might take you a little bit to get back into it. i know that when i de-prioritize snatches the movement starts to feel a little alien. it does come back quick, though. hopefully things won’t be too frustrating for you to start with. i’m sure you will be back to kicking my ass before you know it!
Today I come to you with my tail between my legs.
Not only was Oly on Weds completely unsatisfactory in terms of training (Lex you were right!), but I also ended up doing myself a great disservice on my road to recovery. Inspiration fail!
While it was great to see everyone, especially my old training partner Katie who I just found out is moving to Colorado in the next month (wah!), not being able to train the full lifts feels lame. On top of that, I may have pushed my knee a bit too much thanks to Coach Joe who was sort of testing me out. I ended up with terrible knee pain for days ![]()
Its entirely my fault, and a lesson learned - as my PT lady said, “I know you feel good, but you need to remember there’s still something not right with your knee.” But at least she checked me out (made sure the graft still felt tight, etc.) and assessed that I just overdid it. Phew!
Thing is I knew it going in to Oly practice. I’m not technically supposed to be doing anything below parallel until 16 weeks post-op and on my OH squats on Weds I went a wee bit lower than intended with 35kgs, plus I practiced a bit of extending with some hang snatches and I’m just not ready for that.
On top of all of this, I also had a programming fail and just haven’t been organizing my training sched in a way that gives my knee enough rest. Grrrrr…
All of this AND, I’m super unhappy with my fat-soft self! I took some pics (which I posted over in the dark side) as a reminder to myself that this is the tipping point. I either work to keep myself right and tight, or I cross the line into sloppy-fat. The choice is mine, and I choose NO! No more fatty Masch!
Part of the issue is that for some unknown reason lately people have been treating me to all sorts of wonderful dinners (authentic soul food! red velvet cake! Tapas! Wine, champagne, GIN!) and I simply CANNOT say no. I think I might start telling my friends I have a gluten intolerance.
Anyways, I haven’t gained all that much weight, only 2 lbs - but with the muscle loss, and on a 5’2 frame - it shows! Plus my pants, which are already tight as fuck are now BEYOND tight. I know what I have to do, I just have to do it! Plus, my Halloween costume depends on a certain level of leanness - haha! So there’s incentive!
On the plus side, yesterday I knocked out 30 pullups clocking in at 135, so just imagine how much more diesel I’ll be back at my fighting weight! Woot woot! Get it gurl!
MiMsy - haha! The measurements! I should do that again! Just need to set aside a few hours so I can take measurements and then recalculate them. lol!
My bird friend! I’m itching to touch the ball again, but I’m nervous about juggling to be honest. I’ve learned from my hammie pull that no matter the injury, the soccer player instinct might provoke me to do something stupid like attempt to save a wayward ball and then, BAM! re-injured. I like the idea of headers and chest work - as it stands my PT peeps have me squatting on a wobble board and throwing/catching a ball (so ridiculous btw!), so maybe I can head it instead! Good idea! And I’m sorry about your tendinopathy - what’s the healing time on that? How did you get it?
Alright lovers! Thanks for checking in and sorry for the Wall O’ Text! Just needed to vent, I guess shrugs
Hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend! Upward and onward!!!
Its times like these that will simply make you stronger. I don’t venture to the “dark side” very often but Im extremely happy I did, “fatty masch” looks fucking perfect to me…stop being so hard on yourself…its sunday! Have redvelvet cake with some wings…I am!
What in the hell is red velvet cake? You NYers scare me.
30 pullups…awesome!
hitting the gym again…awesome!
going a bit too hard…not as awesome
pants that are BEYOND tight…awesome!
re-evaluating and finding a way to still kick ass…awesome!
wall of text…you must be a fast typer which is awesome! The fucking time I could have back if I could type worth a damn.
Seems like overwhelming awesome to me.
Seen the pictures nothing fat there.
Now don’t hurt yourself on the way back to recovery.
You wouldn’t be you if you didn’t get a little over zealous once in awhile. Overdoing it (just a wee little bit) is a good sign I think.
And, I also think the pullup bar is a great motivator for weight loss–much better than the scale for me anyway. I’m always asking myself, “Do you really want have to pull that up?” So, what’s your pullup goal?
Of course, I don’t think you need to lose weight either, but I understand the fighting weight concept and the need to go there once in awhile…
There was a young lady at a job I had who when asked what her favorite color to wear was, she answered “Tight”…
Be patient, Masch. Take your time with this recovery process.
Hey Maschy.
I feel your pain, looks like Im out for a good 10-12 weeks with my groin tendinopathy and fingers crossed I wont have to consider surgery!! I pretty much did it via over-training and not stopping when I should of.
I would be interested to see what your traning entails, as I am trying to write a new program for myself while I recover. For the past 3 weeks Ive done no training but instead have induldged in my version of velvet cake; beer every night!!
Keep your head up with your rehab. We can have a race to see who reaches game fitness first.

Hey bird, I found contrast heat very good for tendin probs, ice up then hot pack a couple of times a day. It gets blood flowing in the area.
Masch, 30 chin ups, sweet.
Matty! Don’t encourage me. Lol! If you had your way we’d all be walking around with them 40 inch asses. HAH! Actually…that doesn’t sounds so bad. Operation Thoroughbred!
Git - My mornings will go like this: Veronica slowly turns toward mirror, looks at herself and says “I AM FUCKING AWESOME” Thanks, doll
And yes! I do type fast! As my assistant says, “look at you all clackity-clack!” HAHAH! I love her.
Joe, thanks! I don’t want to hurt myself either. lol!
Nadia - I knew you’d understand! You’re like my soul sister in this place (except stronger and more limber!). On the plus side, yesterday I was scheduled for a birthday brunch and I have you know I ate entirely clean. I had 2 mimosas though…meh.
HAHA! That’s funny Busy! And I will. sigh.
Spooky baby, actually those were pronated pullups, don’t get it twisted! lol! But really, chins are much easier for me than pronated ir neutral grip pullups.
Anyways, thanks for indulging in my whine everyone. I’ll be checking logs throughout the week. I just need to rattle some stuff off for work and what not. Keep up the great work everyone! Will check in soon.
Keep it real, y’alls! Happy Monday!

Bird, sorry to hear about this impingement
10-12 weeks is quite a bit of time to take off. What can you train? Are you able to squat/DL and do other lower body?
Also, where’s your log? Did you decide if you were playing soccer with your squad in the coming season?
Basically my training is programmed as a 10-day split (which i stole from the >35ers). I do the 4 main lifts plus accessories and I alternate that with a day “off” which includes some form of cardio/conditioning.
Of course my problem is that I ALSO have to do my PT (which is a workout unto itself), so there are a lot of variables I have to consider in my training. Here’s what this week looks like:
Mon - DL
Tues - 1/2 hour Swimming/ 1 hour Aquarobics < swimming is hard for me, aquaarobics is hilarious
Weds - PT am/ Bench pm
Thurs - Cardio (bike sprints or stairmill) and pilates
Fri - PT am / Pullups PM < I train my pullups as a main lift
Sat - OFF
Sun - BB complex or cardio and pilates < depends how the knee feels
Mon - Squats
Tues - Spinnin
Weds - PT am / Bench Pm
Thurs - Swimming/aquarobics
And on and on and on…
But yeah, a lot of it depends on how achey my knee is. Anyways, its actually quite fun b/c you don’t really get bored of anything.
Hope this helps!
