Martin Burkham (Leangains) Consult up for Grabs

Martin thinks and has literature to support his idea that fasting and feasting in his manner is BETTER than traditional meal plans.

Others think and have literature to support the idea that fasting and feasting in that and similar manners are WORSE than traditional meal plans.

But…

To me this is the primary benefit of this style of eating and the things beyond that big picture question(are you consistently hitting your desired macros?) are majoring in the minor for the majority of people.

For fat loss this style of eating is a breeze for me. It’s been much more enjoyable to eat 1-3 satisfying meals to hit my macros versus spreading them out and having to pack and plan my day around eating. That’s it, that’s all I care about.

thanks man, it really does suck. It’s getting to the point where I’m going to get an MRI to see wtf is going on

Im just curious as to how someone gets to the status of being able to charge 1500 dollars for their diet advice?

Ditto on the quads. As for the pain, have you tried some trigger point massage?

This site (triggerpoints dot net) suggests for shin splint-type pain to hit the Peroneus & tibialis.

One thing that can be said for someone paying that much. If I paid that much, I’d sure as hell be motivated to make it work.

I sent Martin Berkhan this thread on Facebook and asked him if he had any opinion on it. Here is his reply:

[quote]Martin Berkhan wrote:
No, but you can speak for me, if you want. Quote me:

I would just like to clarify one thing. “$1500/month” gives the impression that I would charge $4500 to work with someone for three months, which is not the case. Most people pay me a one-time fee of $795 for a one-week consult and they know exactly what to do over the next few months to reach their goal - that’s $795 in total. The $1500/month option is for the first month only, after which is the price is greatly reduced. This option is no longer available for the time being.

Everyone one of my clients have been very pleased so far and they often tell me that they consider themselves much wiser after the process; my materials contain information that will benefit them in the long-term, I don’t just give them a training routine and a meal plan. Furthermore, I do an absolute minimum of advertising for my consultation services and most of my clients come by word of mouth. They keep coming back and I stay quite busy that way.

Now if you ask me, I would have gladly payed someone $795 to cut through the bullshit back when I thought “I knew it all” by reading on forums and being - by all objective standards - knowledgeable about nutrition even back then, in my earlier years of training and dieting. That opportunity would have saved tremendous amounts of time and pain. I was a fast learner, but theoretical knowledge and practical application thereof are almost two different skills.

This is the only thing I wanted to say on the issue.

BUMPING MARTIN BERKHAN’S RESPONSE TO THIS TOPIC REGARDING HIS REASONS FOR CHARGING WHAT HE DOES.

Yep, he can charge what he wants, and there’s a lot of merit to what he’s saying. If you’re willing to pay for it, then more power to ya. I’ve retained his services in the past (they were cheaper then), and generally speaking, I found it to be an effective program. I’ve written about it elsewhere in this forum. I did find that I lost a ton of strength, but it’s hard to know how much of that can be attributed to simply cutting so many calories for such a length of time.

The greatest frustration I experienced was getting stuck with that last bit of fat on the lower abs. Had I broken through that, I know I would have attained the level of “super leanness” that I so desired. Again, it’s hard to know whether that’s a personal limitation I found using this diet or if it’s because I didn’t pay Martin even more money to tell me what changes I needed to make at that last phase of fat loss. I believe it is more the former, to be honest, and here’s why: Martin does, in fact, provide you with a progression guide for what changes to make as you get further into fat loss. I simply found that these tweaks did not produce any further fat loss.

It’s beyond that now. :\ There is a physical bump on the tibia and if I poke at that spot, it hurts, so there is some bone bruise/periosteum inflammation/stress fx thing going on… enough of my bitching about my shin, lol.

Good post from StateChamp there.

I said it in some other thread on here, Intermittent Fasting is cool. And it works. And should not be discredited because the guy who “coined it” is rich now.
