Martial Arts in Montreal

Hello,

I am a 27 year old man living in Montreal with no prior Martial Arts experience. Can anybody refer me to a “fight club” or a style of MA I should go for?

Thanks

They look like they might have something to offer.

Jeet Kune Do is real good to learn. JiuJitsu, if they can get ahold of you they are deadly.
Kali and stick fighting is great discipline.
There is some great martial arts in Canada.

I am not sure what kind of martial arts you are looking for. If its a ‘practice/discipline’ you want I would just go around to various clubs and try some classes. If you want real world self defence/fighting you can’t do better than Senshido. Montreal also has a great Judo club. I can’t remember the name sorry.

GAMMA on peel and ste catherine.

Its has a bjj black belt, and most pro montreal mma fighters (george st pierre etc) train there.

GAMMA also has muay thai, boxing, wrestling, kajukembo, kali.

If your interested in the more traditional, let me know, I have more suggestions,.

email Firas Zahabi (one of my athletes and Muay Thai Canadian champ) at firaszahabi@yahoo.com

Firas Zahabi from tristar?

Shenshido

From the fact that you said “Fight club style”, this is about as close as you’re going to get. It’s reality based training at it’s finest.

Depends what you want out of it though… If you want to train to be able to “go live” as it were, senshido is your best bet.

If you want to learn it for the sake of learning it, go with something like traditional karate or kung fu.

If you want to compete, kickboxing, tai boxing, judo et. al. are your best bets.

I’m biased, but go and speak to the senshido guys and gals.

First rule of fight club: Take a look, go and meet them, see what you think.

Rule Two: Use rule one, and go and visit MANY clubs or training groups!

Rule Three: It’s not the art, but the practitioner.
