MarkKO's Training Log

haha Bots I didn’t understand it, but googled it.

Pretty funny, something we all can relate to.

Woke at 259.5 lbs, looking similar to yesterday. The bloat is probably poor sleep more than anything now I think about it. Head and back still feeling better too

Sorry to hear about your experience during squats man, that would be pretty nerve racking. Glad to hear both head and back are getting back in order.
Been holding that 260lbs for awhile now, plans to stick around here for awhile longer or making another weight push?

Yeah, it wasn’t fun. I’m still trying to hit 275 lbs, just not pushing like a madman. As long as I slowly get there I’m good. I figure the slower the gain rate to an extent the surer I can be its lean mass and not fat.

Although, once @simo74 suggested what it might be it kind of helped because it made what I felt make sense. So not cool, but having an idea why helped.

I really don’t learn

Todays training

Bearing @simo74 wise advice, worked very carefully

No bracing hip thrusts or bracing 90/90 to minimise pressure in my head. Just did some band work

Bench press
Worked up to
4x2x236 lbs - all fine, could feel the tenderness in my head but it wasn’t quite pain. Just felt bruised.
10c236 lbs - should have stopped at nine, or maybe even eight. On 10 fucking boom, knife right back into my head. I guess because I called it at 10 it didn’t hurt as much as Monday and I sat quietly icing it for a bit.

That’s me done for the week.

So accurate though @queen_cobra
Coach just weighed in, said yeah, it happens but your BP won’t be high enough for long enough to have a stroke. So you’re good.

Well … It’'s not necessary to have very high blood pressure to get a stroke. Just some cholesterol plaques , aneurysm, etc .
May be it’s just a muscle spasm in the neck.
But a coach is not the proper guy to diagnose you.

Here’s hoping it’s none of those things…

Cholesterol is ok, has that checked when I did my BP. So that’s a plus. If this happens again I’ll get a referral for a CAT scan or MRI though. I’m stubborn, but I’m not (that) stupid.

Sometimes to know what another man knows you have to walk a mile in his shoes.

Now you know you need to rest it a bit longer :sunglasses:

Woke at 259.5 lbs, looking similar to yesterday but a little less bloated. Air squats didn’t hurt my head, so that’s a win. Still a bit tender in the head though.

Head is still tender towards the evening. So definitely did something up there on Monday.

Had my follow up appointment at the sleep clinic. You called it @Frank_C I have sleep apnea. Apparently it’s quite severe: on average I stop breathing 37 times an hour and on occasion the stoppages last up to 40 seconds. On the plus side, my oxygen levels don’t drop too badly because it looks like my lungs are good and have plenty of oxygen storage. Impact on blood pressure isn’t great, but not terrible.

I’m taking the CPAP for a five week trial with a follow up appointment in two weeks.

I am so fucking relieved.

It sounds like you’d be a good swimmer since you’re going without oxygen so much. That’s impressive.

There are several different “masks” for the CPAP so if you don’t like one then try another.

Hope it works out for you!

Woke at 257.5 lbs, looking a bit less bloated. Feel pretty good. Woke up a few times overnight, I think mostly because I’m getting used to the mask. No issues getting back to sleep though. The mask hurts my nose a little, but nothing terrible. Either I’ll get used to it or try a different one. Kept the mask on from around 2100 to 0530.

@Frank_C I am a terrible swimmer. I might be able to do without breathing for a bit but put me in water and I just flail around on the spot.

Are you using the “nose pillow” mask? They told me I’d get used to the irritation.

Sounds like a good start!

They did call it a pillow…

For the most part it’s actually comfortable. There’s just one spot to the left of my septum that it pushes into. It’s really pretty minor. The biggest issue is when I roll onto my front, which is how I usually sleep. I figure I’ll just train myself to sleep on my back.

I found that even if I kept it on for three hours, I felt really good the next day, but it kind of sneaks up on you. I felt okay in the morning, then by afternoon, when I was normally hitting the coffee hard, I felt fucking great. Especially after a few days.

For me, it didn’t work long term, hence why I try to stay skinny AF.

Be patient, just a few hours of it makes a huge difference.

Good stuff and bad shit going on here Mark.

Good to see that you might have solved the sleep issues.

Bad, in like really bad, is that headache of yours.
Get that shit sorted out, even if you have to back of a bit on the heavy lifting.

Something like

This is where you should work up to and not beyond, at least until you’ve figured out what the f’cks going on.
