MarkKO's Training Log

For dicks and dudes height for sure :joy:

Fun fact. I’ve never measured myself until today. I always guessed I was 6ft based off other people. I’ve been so nervous that I wasn’t 6 that I’d been too scared to measure. Silly, I know. So today at the dexa scan the lady asked height and I said 6ft. Then I got to thinking if I was shorter maybe my dexa scan would be better, so I told her I wasn’t really sure. She measured me and sure enough I’m 6ft in the dot. I was sad and relieved :joy:

Well, I used to think 5’ 8"

Then I thought 5’ 7"

I do know I’m 173 cm, which is 5.67 feet. So, like a dumbass I thought that was just 5’ 7". Except, I then realised 0.67 of a foot isn’t seven inches. It’s near as damn two thirds of a foot, and a foot is 12 inches. Two thirds of 12 is eight, which means I’m 5’ 8".

I’m 5’8"

So you’re six foot but what about the dexa? How fat are you ?

I knew he was 5’8”! Feels good to be right :joy:

210lbs 6ft 177lbs of lbm. I was so sad, I wanted to be over 180 so bad. Turns out building muscle is slow and hard and all you homos just make it look easy

Random funny story, a couple of munchkin’s mates from the neighbournood swung by. They come by every weekend almost to see if he’s in, and it’s cool because they’re both a couple of years older than he is but they’re friends. Normally they go and play in the park, but they hung out in the house today because it’s raining. Out of the blue one of them starts tidying up the shelf in our living area (which, to be fair, was a pigsty because Mrs KO has the same attitude to keeping storage tidy as a teenage boy and I’ve given up on cleaning up after her).

It’s really neat now. He actually chose to do this instead of playing Xbox. Good kid. Or just too polite to say, this is a fucking mess and it’s bothering me.

I got there eventually. Normally pretty good with numbers, not so much this time.

That’s gold. Get that kid around more often. My son’s friends are alright, 1 goes to my wife’s school, so he’s a bit cheeky, all good though.
He did bring this random kid from the skatepark around one day, went to the cupboard for food, got a shock when I told him he’s shit outta luck and to go to the shop, then I caught him dicking around with our modem to try and figure out our WiFi password, needless to say, he hasn’t been back!

Woke at 258.6 lbs, looking similar to yesterday.

@Koestrizer I don’t think so, just haven’t slept super well the last few days and we drove to Sydney and back on Thursday which always makes me tired.

Great, just tweaked my back. Again. Munchkin is into what he calls wrestling, which is really me picking him up and throwing him onto the bed. It’s cool. Except I tried it within an hour of getting up and the first throw made my back go all funny. Fuck.

Seems like spinning a 60 pound seven year old around when you haven’t quite moved around enough isn’t a good idea.

Done some bracing hip thrusts and leg raises and rehab stretching which helped a bit but it’s still there. Fuck.

That’s not good mark. That happens to me with the kids too. All three of them usually want to be thrown around but it usually ends in either me or one of them hurt :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Went for a run around the pond with munchkin (so maybe 800 metres). Pace seemed pretty good, back didn’t pump up. Win.

Then did the same as last Sunday, 10x20ish metre sprints up a slight incline just walking back between the sprints. Same effort too, 70 to 80 per cent.

Back felt better after.

Sorry to read about you tweaking your back Mark.
Good that it’s better already, hopefully it isn’t as bad, as your initial thoughts.
The running will be a win for you, Keep at it mate.

Thanks my friend. These things happen

You’re right about the running, I’m going to do it once a week. It’ll help recovery and won’t hurt my conditioning. Greg’s starting to push some kind of cardio now.

Woke at 260.8 lbs, looking fairly similar to yesterday. Back is still tight but better.

How does running feel on your joints? Running feels like the most damaging thing I can do (including axle cleans!), Haha. The reason here might not be my size though but more so my terrible running technique. So I am curious how it feels on your back and shins.

Feels fine. I used to run a but when I was doing kb sport and playing rugby and hockey at school. It’s also different over shorter distances, not sure what would happen over a kilometre. I naturally run on the balls of my feet so sprinting feels pretty good.

Interesting.

Im considering adding some running/sprinting into my program. Always used to do it, but lately I haven’t. Always felt a lot more athletic when running was part of the program.

Do you have any particular goals with the running?

Just improved conditioning so I recover better. Also cardiovascular health. My BP is good, but at 5’ 8" and 260 lbs I figure I need to give my cv system every advantage I can.
