MarkKO's Training Log

Oddly enough I’m pretty sure I could walk Charlie without a lead apart from her enthusiasm for other dogs, which borders on the insane. I think she’ll calm down with that though, because today she responded well to being sat and then patted and talked to in a calm voice whenever a dog was near. Simba I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to walk without a leash simply because people are dumb and scared of staffys and pitbulls. She’s gotten really good with pretty much ignoring people when she’s on leash, and only being fairly quietly friendly to other dogs.

That’s why I like the dog park so much. The girls can just roam. Although, I think I need to watch Charlie a little more closely because she doesn’t seem to have quite figured out how to deal with dogs who aren’t interested in her. Grabbing their ears and growling isn’t the right response, even though she growls as part of play. Her play growl sounds fairly serious. I’ve heard her serious growl, and it’s something you’d expect from a dog with three heads that eats souls. Simba rarely growls or barks at all.

What do park do you take them to?
We signed up for obedience training at tuggeranong dog club so we just take Lola down there, she seems to love running around like a miniature missile.

Casey, because it’s close (we’re in Crace). I’ve been up Weston aka Yarralumla once too. Casey is awesome because the owners aren’t dicks. Plenty of staffys and staffy crosses, fair few huskies/malamutes, usual lot of labs, etc.

Never been to Tuggers one. Jez’s (Elite Jez, not T-Nation Jez) dog got attacked there around a half year ago, but I found out that was just a one-off with a dog being taken there by a dog sitter who didn’t know the dog did go well at parks.

Lola’s a staffy right? They love the park usually. Hit me up, if you want I can bring the girls and we could meet at Yarralumla for a playdate.

Legs are fried. Fucking goblet squats (I’ll blame them, they’re an easy target).

Over calories by a fair chunk today but given how my legs feel this is no bad thing for tomorrow’s bench. Mrs KO has a wicked flu and requested burgers. It would have been rude not to join in. Then a big cookie at work. Puts me around 1100 cal over, but the only real concern would be the fat and that’s if I hadn’t been really quite low in fat intake the last few days - so a bumper day of fat intake probably isn’t a bad thing.

Been a while since I checked out the log. Keep killing it man!!! And YES goblet squats get me sore like no other as well. I don’t even use a DB higher than 100. But 5x20 @ 100lb with 45 sec rest will have your legs and lungs screaming!!

Setup felt spot on. Wore my wrestling shoes again. Maybe they have something to do with it. As is now usual (apparently) feeling tired/beat up but the weights move better than ever.

2-board press

Dips
3x10 at bodyweight - much easier than last week

Plate raises
2x20x33 lbs

DB rows
3x12x125 lbs

Done in an hour and 20 minutes

Pros of chocolate milk: 900 relatively clean calories in 15 minutes

Cons of chocolate milk: the worst gas I have ever had

Quite possibly could have been avoided if I didn’t eat two bananas chased by a litre of chocolate milk in the space of a 20 minute drive.

It was delicious though.

I’ve been keeping up, and I’m sure you’ve mentioned it and I probably just forgot, but have you signed up for your next meet? If so, how far out? Read up on Panora’s stuff out of curiosity and it definitely sounds normal to feel like hell until the meet, ha.

Fifteenth July, I’m going to sign up mid next week. That puts me about 12 weeks out I guess?

Yeah, it’s weird. I do feel like hell, except everything is moving really well. I’m not achy, I haven’t got niggles, I’m just fucking tired as shit. Then the bar moves like goddamn butter anyway.

That’s kind of how all the testimonials (as well as his writing) says it goes, something like, “The only week you feel ‘good’ on this program is when you step on the platform.” So, it tracks, ha.

how does that even work? like, how can it make you so tired but weights move like butter??

I can feel you on that. With my current full body approach it is similiar.

Adaptions. The first time I snatched 225 was the day after I wasn’t even remotely close to being able to clean like 80%, and the snatch was a 20 pound PR.

The harder you train the more fit you get, but the more fatigue you are under. Mark is probably significantly fitter (stronger, which busting away at really good volume for a long time will certainly make you), but also very fatigued. He’ll probably hit big maximal lifts after a taper week despite not spending much time practicing heavy lifts in a long time.

Oh also, bit late, but I have one of those Nutri-bullet things and it works really well. Super easy to clean, I would never go back to a full size blender again.

Woke at 218.7 lbs, looking OK. Little bit watery but I’m guessing that’s from yesterday’s episode.

@duketheslaya you heard @Destrength, he knows how it works better than I. I just do the work.
