MarkKO's Training Log

This is how I finished training today

Beats bands, because I’m actually hanging. Hung for around two minutes.

That looks a bit terrifying  But when you’re in position it looks rather comfy

Kind of. Well do you mean like the Southern Coasts? Or both the northern and southern coasts?

It slopes upwards as you go from east to west coast. Mainly the white collar jobs. And it’s more noticeable in the popular, more dense cities. Places folks are familiar with, or they go visit (Houston, Tampa, Baton Rouge, Atlanta, Phoenix, Dallas, etc) Florida to Georgia being around the 40-50,000$ annual range, Louisiana a bit higher than those, Texas to Arizona being the 65-75,000$ annual range, until you get to places like Cali which is even higher. But they’re pretty much in that mid to semi-high annual range. It also depends on certain cities you live in. The deep inner cities of Houston are sky high because a lot of the places have been renovated, and they’ve kicked a lot of people out into government subsidized places or whatever.

I just used a rough comparison, the job title I used was “restaurant manager” just to group stuff together. It’ll be higher or lower depending on whatever job type you have. It’ll blur and become similar in certain jobs as well, like your typical blue collar jobs, the pay is rather similar.

Edit again: Quite a lot of the old money Texas was built upon came from Cattle and livestock first, melded with the big Oil manufacturers in the more recent years, and now its slowly turning toward a lot of technology stuff too. We’re the home of NASA as well, so a lot of the funding can be backed with whatever is needed despite NASA being defunded some years ago.

First time I had a buddy tip me up, just to be safe. It’s awesome, back feels so good after.

I’ll have to figure a way, and a belt that I can rely on

Safety straps work well. Go to a hardware store and get lifting straps, those would work.

That brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “hanging out at the gym”

Got you. Took another look. I thought it was the belt you somehow was hanging in

Reminded me of an upside down monk…

This would be the only time I have ever reminded anyone of a monk…

What part of TN? I’m in Knoxville

Dad joke of the week :joy:

@MarkKO I feel like you would benefit more if you didn’t have a bar right at head. I assume you are doing it to stretch out your back? You were actually more graceful than I was expecting for a big lad!

Yes, I need to get the safety bar higher so my head doesn’t knock the bottom @Irishman92

Graceful. Sure.

Today’s training

SSB good mornings
10ishxbar
10x154 lbs
10x165 lbs
10x176 lbs

These felt pretty good.

DB split squats
3x12x45 lbs

These didn’t feel particularly bad

DB lunges
25 total reps with 55 lbs (13, then doubles to 19 with rests while I convinced myself not to go home, then six)

These fucking sucked and I could barely walk thanks to the worst lower back pump I can remember. I think my legs were also dead, but it was hard to tell because all I could feel was my back. I had to keep leaning on stuff every few steps

BB rows
8x176 lbs - light AF despite my back still being crippled
8x198 lbs - not light AF but still light
8x220 lbs - OK, finally felt some kind of effort. Kept these strict, too, so my back definitely isn’t weaker

DB rows
2x15x100 lbs - grip may have had to work but honestly should have used the 110s or 115s because it didn’t feel like my back was really doing much. Strict, as usual now

Lying leg raises
50 total reps: 25, then 11, 6 and 8

Done in an hour. Fucking horrible. Deload is over.

Woke at 217.1 lbs, looking decent. Seems like 216-217 lbs is where I’m kind of stuck at.

Occasionally I lie down on a bed with legs propped up against the wall (nearly vertical), stay there for 30-45 minutes. Afterwards, can really freshen them up. When my legs are really beat up, it can actually be fairly painful after a while, until I get out of that position. But seems to help more often than not. Decent recovery technique.

There’s a similar thing you can do for your knees by wrapping them tightly and then elevating your feet with knees around 90 degrees for seven or so minutes.

We’re away from tomorrow until Monday at Bateman’s Bay so starting next week today. Glutes are trashed.

Today’s training

Leg extensions, 45 degree back raise, GHR sit-ups and broad jumps

Squat, mono
5xbar
5xplate/143 lbs
3x2 plates/231 lbs
2x3 plates/319 lbs, open belt
5x1x390 lbs
5x390 lbs

Felt pretty decent

45 degree back raises
4x12 at bodyweight - should have been weighted, but I misread that and TBH probably no bad thing given the reaming by back was given yesterday

Air squats
50, hell of a quad pump

DB rows
3x10x120 lbs

Done in a shade under an hour and 10 minutes
