MarkKO's Training Log

Eh I just get tingling ear lobes

What about puking? Is that a good barometer?

Today’s training

DB pec flyes 25 lbs for a bunch, playing with tempo

DB bench
10x25 lbs
10x45 lbs
8x65 lbs
10x85 lbs, 8 RPE
9x85 lbs, 8-9 RPE
3x8x85 lbs, 9, 9-10, 10 RPE

Next week I’ll push to 2+x10

American bar feet up bench press supersetted with strict BB rows
Bench 10xbar, 10x151 lbs, 2x9x195 lbs, 8x195 lbs
Rows 10xbar, 10x132 lbs, 3x8x209 lbs - kept strict but heavy enough that I felt the weight more than the muscles. I’m guessing that’ll change over the next few weeks

Machine pec flyes supersetted with T-bar rows
Flyes 3x15 at pin five, elbows on handles - up to pin six next week
Rows 3x15x121 lbs - stay here another week then up to 132 lbs

DB tricep rollovers
3x12x20 lbs - finally getting a tad easier, third set barely killed me

All up an hour and 25 minutes including stretching and stuff along with saying hello to someone’s dog who was visiting

Feeling flat and tired AF. Decided to have an overall refeed. I’ll see how it works, but I have hopes as I haven’t done one in about three months, maybe more.

How clean do you stay in your refeed?

Not for me. I used to puke every Thursday which was leg day. Gym owner used to hand me a bucket when I walked in the gym. It had little to do with weight but more to do with reaching my lactic threshold. Used to suffer from asthma and would get so little air in when squatting I would puke. Usually just waited a bit to get my breath back and keep going. After 5 years of running 3-6 days a week and no longer suffering from asthma I don’t have that problem anymore.

I know I reach my limit when I start getting hives
No joke after a heavy deadlift session about two weeks ago my face turned to this
Apparently it has to do with your body reaching lactic threshold

Holy sh*t that’s intense

Woke at 201.7 lbs looking a bit soft with some lower ab bloating. All as expected.

Yesterday dinner was this

@anon96032531 this is a rarity. Normally if I carb feed it’s just more of what I normally eat as carbs, which I’d describe as clean-ish.

I get a bulging forehead vein but that just lets me know I’m bracing.

Same. That’s ever present with bracing for me too.

Today’s training

Leg curl at 55 lbs for a bunch

Front squat
3xbar
3x132 lbs
3x220 lbs
10x3x308 lbs, 6, 6, 6, 6-7, 6-7, 7, 7, 8, 8-9, 8-9 RPE in 16 minutes - clean grip sets one to five, straps sets six to nine and clean grip set 10

Up to four next week. Clean grip is pretty bearable and somehow I manage it with three fingers now. Helps to wrap my wrists quite tight, but definitely easier to stay in position.

Semi sumo DL, beltless, stiff bar, straps
10x132 lbs
8x220 lbs
3x10x308 lbs in eight minutes

Work sets felt light, and I mean LIGHT. Pleased about this, because 308 lbs felt like 220 lbs. That hasn’t happened before, with or without a belt.

Leg extensions supersetted with GHR sit-ups
Extensions 3x25x55 lbs - felt this a lot more in my quads than either lunges or leg press
Sit-ups 3x20 at bodyweight - these were hard, worked my abs and my hip flexors

All done in an hour and half, including a chat with the gym owner aboit the belt squat they’re getting. I’m excited.

Took a couple of gym changing room selfies, relaxed vs slightly flexed

Woke at 200.4 lbs, softness pretty much gone. Bloating likewise.

Welcome back to the big boys club

In Finland we say that guys under 220lbs are weighted at the child care centre, so you’ve still got to gain a bit to be real manly and big

But yeah, nice work with the weight gain overall, you’ve done really well!

If you weren’t a grown man (and thus have responsibilities  ), I’d ask you if you’ve ever tried that one Max Aita program.

Basically back when Max was training with the Bulgarians in the US, they would have you front squat, then snatch, then clean and jerk, then squat again, then do that again later in the day all to a maximum. He injured his elbow, so they made him do the bulgarian rehab program for upper body injuries: replacing all sessions with squat sessions, still to max. Supposedly he added 30KG to his squat in a really short period of time before he decided training on his elbow was better than that hell.

Just saw your squat video. I will be belting up and giving 365X10 for 5 sets a shot during my deload week. Possibly low bar, possibly just a belted oly style squat.

I know I’ve squatted 365X10 beltless oly style before, but can I do it for 5 sets with a belt is the real question, and how much self hatred will I feel while forcing myself to do it.
