Did Mark Henry really win the Arnold Strong Man Contest? The WWF is claiming he is the worlds strongest man now. I was under the impression that there was only one Worlds Strongest Man. I know hes strong. I saw him clean and jerk the american record and then stand on one leg with the weight over his head.Does anyone know anything about this?
Here’s how it went down (according to Joe Roark). Raymonds Bergmanis: five failed attempts.Phil Pfister: a continental to the belt (a violation of the rule at this event, strangely enough) no jerk. Svend Karlsen: 2 continentals, no jerks. Andy Bolton: apparently did not qualify because he did not compete in this event. Brian Schoonveld: 1 continental, no jerk. Mark Philippi: 1 continental and 1 jerk. Brad Gillingham: 2 cleans and no jerks. Mark Henry: 3 cleans & 3 jerks. He’s the only lifter who has weighed more than the axle to put it overhead. The (extremely badly run from what I heard) contest was basically custom made for Henry, so it’s no surprise that he won. The WWF is just saying he’s the strongest guy in the world just to help his wrestling career. btw Ed Coan was there with the wheels backstage, but didn’t try them.
