How do you like that brand of electrolytes? Iām burnt out on flavors lately.
Heya Chris!
I like them quite a bit. After listening to Huberman Lab and wanting to consistently supplement with electrolytes I started checking brands against the LMNT brand that he advertises. This had the closest amounts/ratios (if I remember correctly) for a much more affordable price. This is the third or fourth tub Iām on and havenāt even tried another flavour, because I enjoy my morning drink and havenāt felt the need to change it up.
Glad to see youāre posting again. Iāll definitely be following along. Iām debating doing similar through end of July, before I embark on an intentional bulk.
Also, thanks. Just ordered.
Finished up a workout between attending birthday parties today (my sonās friend turned 6, and my uncle turnsā¦uhmā¦not sure).

Nice to see you back man. Howās the kiddo?
Great to see you back.
I can relate to those goals a lot. Will follow along with interest.
Im about to Dry July so might be the time to trial something similar.
Love it dude, and love the attitude. I have a sneaking suspicion that, come the end of your experiment, you may decide to go into overtime, haha.
Salt is good for sure, as are the other salts in electrolytes (potassium, magnesium, chromium, etc). ElitePro Minerals are awesome, along with electrolyte powders like you mentioned. I found I have to really just keep the dosage consistent. All water I drink has a little sprinkle in it.
Iād veer away from sausages at the start, especially for a short duration run, if the goal is to really get the healing benefits of carnivore, just because those tend to contain plant seasonings in them. As youāve seen, the deeper you dig, the more you find plants in EVERYTHING, and if youāre trying to hit the reset button, trying to cut it all out can be challenging. But on that note, when I got away from spices and seasonings, I REALLY got to learn and understand my hunger and satiety signals, which was huge for me, and I REALLY got to appreciate the simple joy of the flavor of food. And now, when I DO have any sort of seasonings or spices, itās crazy how powerful they are, haha.
I love the food porn pics. And youāre holding great size despite any downtime youāve experienced. Your bodyās set point is in a good way.
Iāll get to some replies later when Iām not on my phone.
But until then, enjoy some colour.
Smoked pork tenderloin (salt only)
A little sandbag lifting to prove I can still pick up heavy things.
Thanks! You might as well jump on it, and we can ride this train to glory (and abs, energy, etc. of course).
Excellent, hope you enjoy them!
Hi Whang! Thank you. Kiddo(s) (two now!) are great. Two boys, at a fun age where they are really starting to become friends (5 and 2). Instead of just my oldest and his baby brother, they are able to play, wrestle, and use their imaginations together. Fun to watch!
Thanks Deadlift, glad to have you along. If youāre already giving up alcohol, you might as well go all in with Carnivore and really see some changes over the month! (or not, time will tell)
I think there is a good chance youāre correct with this suspicion!
I appreciate this comment. I hadnāt considered this, but I am starting to look closer at labels now.
Iāll keep the food pics coming, as they are a huge part of this journey! I appreciate the compliment, Iām excited to see where this goes.
Any suggestions on when I should take bloodwork? It would have been ideal to have a recent baseline for comparison, and then again after my experiment, but I likely can only get the bloodwork test through the doctor once every 6 months or so. Right now Iām leaning towards getting it done near the end of July - two weeks after my planned cheat day, or as soon as possible to give me that baseline number.
Eh, it depends on what youāre looking for at bloodwork. Hormone profile? Fasting glucose? A1C? I imagine seeing improvements there. LDL? Itās most likely going to go up and your doc is going to freak out, unless he also thinks to compare it against your HDL and triglycerides. At that point, Iād be more interested in a Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) score.
Thereās something to be said about comparing numbers when not fully in a āfat adaptedā phase, which may take longer than this initial 26 days. If youāre attempting to be in ketosis while on carnivore (not necessary to do, but many do), you can get into a shallow state of it early on, but become truly fat adapted can take months.
And then, alongside that, the protocols of blood lipid profiles can also alter the readings FOR a carnivore. When you fast, your liver is going to release triglycerides to fuel your body if youāre fat adapted, because itās the fuel source youāre reliant on. This can result in an elevated triglyceride reading compared to a non-fasted reading.
All this to say: there is a LOT of nuance with blood work.
I appreciate the detailed response.
Iām interested in the hormone profile, and then just comparing overall numbers to see how this dietary change affects me. The last bloodwork results I have are from over two years ago, so I wonāt be able to conclusively say that this diet did X or Y for me from a bloodwork standpoint (LDL increase, test increase, etc.). This information isnāt necessary (and Iām far from a bloodwork expert), but Iām a data-driven person who would enjoy drawing some additional conclusions from this experiment!
I will gladly settle for more sustained energy throughout the day, shredding some fat, reducing dependency on carbs/coffee/alcohol, and hopefully adding some lean mass while we are at it!
I am not purposefully going into Ketosis, but Iām trying to be cognizant of my fat consumption. A lot of what Iām seeing is that folks fail (or have difficulty) on this diet when they donāt keep their fats high enough. I plan to pour back through your log again as well to pick up more tidbits of info/ideas on how youāre running it.

Under 30mins, I was keeping a good pace during this one as I was pressed for time.
While waiting for the wings to cook in the air fryer, I cooked up the rest of my pork tenderloin into some fresh eggs (cooked in ghee):
400C, 16mins (added a minute to the next batch for some additional crisp - Iām used to coating in olive oil which seems to add a little crisp):
Everything is looking delicious!

Energy started to fade a little towards the end of this one. Stared at that sandbag awhile before mustering the energy/courage to attack it. The 200lb bag is the weight where I need the focus/effort or I could lose it. The 150lb bag I can toss around relatively easy now.
I hope to have the 250lb bag make an appearance in the coming weeks.
Some 3-ingredient meatballs for dinner tonight. 1lb ground beef, 1lb bacon, and a bunch of old cheddar.

I went out for lunch today with some colleagues. Fortunately, the choice of venue was a smokehouse. I got a 1/2lb Texas brisket, āstraight up meatā. It was delicious!

This marks the first time eating out while on The Carnivore Diet. Iām sure there were some seasonings on the delicious crust/bark of the brisket, but Iād consider it overall carnivore-compliant.
Itās honestly pretty awesome and liberating going out to eat as a carnivore. So many other ways of eating are SO restrictive, but I really love āgetting to yesā when I go out. So many places have some sort of meat, egg or cheese option, and a LOT of them are willing to work with me when it comes time to making the meal work. Every Texas Roadhouse Iāve been too has been clutch when it comes to sides and I ask āCan I just get a bowl of the hardboiled eggs that come with the salad?ā Another option is āloaded baked potato: hold the potatoā, so you just get cheese, sour cream and bacon. I went to a breakfast place that would swap out your toast and potatoes with an extra egg and cottage cheese, which was fantastic.
When we go to our favorite local BBQ place, my kid gets āloaded mac n cheeseā, which is supposed to have meat on top of it. I get ribs, which come with sides that I donāt eat. Weāve worked it out that I get the cornbread, my kid gets the meatā¦and we trade, haha. I always say theyāre a sucker, and they say the same thing to me. And when we go out to our favorite breakfast spot, I get an omelet, order sourdough toast, my wife gets a waffle with eggs and sausage, and once again, we trade. Really takes āfamily styleā to a whole new level.
