Maple Syrup Strength (littlesleeper)

OH boy Sleepy you guys gave Denmark a hockey lesson yesterday.
You really have some fantastic players over there.

Thanks for to comments gents. Yeah, timing isn’t exactly ideal. I feel bad because now my nearly 8month pregnant wife is having to do more things around the house. I should be the one picking up the slack! This morning the pain is down to about a 6/10, which is nice. It is more of just a constant throb, than the acute pain that it was for the past couple days. It seems to get aggravated quite easily when I’m on my feet for any length of time. As long as I keep my foot elevated, the swelling seems to stay down.

I took yesterday off work to rest up, but back to work today.

Appointment with the fracture clinic next Thursday for another review of it. They sent my Xrays to an orthopedic surgeon because the alignment didn’t look right to the Doc, so I should hear back on Thursday. I really hope it is healing correctly, a surgery would only extend the recovery time.

Wow. Forgot about the near drop date for the youngster. Good thing y’all didn’t build a house

Glad to hear your getting it looked st properly and it’s starting to heal. Look at the possitive, in a few weeks when baby is here all you’ll want to do it sit down and cuddle them anyway. Time to really enjoy these days without another distraction. The iron is always waiting it won’t go away.

I broke my ankle weeks after my daughter was born. Suddenly my poor wife had to do all the night time feedings while I took pain pills and slept like a baby, except for the entire night.

DE UPPER …because I’m broken
Wenning Warmup
Banded shoulder internal/external rotates 3x20
DB OHP 30lbs 2x25
Lat Pulldowns Light 3x25
Banded Rows 2x25

Speed Bench red bands doubled
135 x 9
135 x 3 Wide grip
135 x 3 close grip
135 x 3 comp grip
135 x 3 Wide grip
135 x 3 close grip
135 x 3 comp grip

All were good and snappy reps. I started touching the bar a little higher on my chest, and it felt stronger and better on my shoulders, I think I have been tucking my elbows too much!

GIANT SET
DB Fold-Ins - slight incline
20lb dbs x 30
20lb dbs x 30
20lb dbs x 30

Too light, but nice little pump.

DB Rear Delt Flyes
20lbs x 30
20lbs x 15 + 15 swings (Meadow style)
20lbs x 10 + 20 swings

A little too heavy for these, but it was convenience that made me use the same pair of DBs for these two movements.

Heavy Lat Pulldowns
Full stack x 10
Full stack x 10
Full stack x 10

Broke a sweat, bench felt fast, finished with a pump…yep, that pretty much spells a good workout to me. Not being able to squat/deadlift right now has me a little pissed, so I’ll take an upper body victory here.

Good to see you’re still lifting.

Thanks Mort. This injury definitely tapped the brakes on the lifting train that was rolling along, but I’m not quite dead yet!

I am, however, out of town once again this weekend to the in-laws so likely no workouts this weekend either. I’m going to be disassembling a ~100ft greenhouse to bring home and eventually assemble on our property! My father-in-law has been slowly shrinking his farming operations the past few years (he is nearly 70 years old now), so he has a couple additional greenhouses that are not being used/maintained so we are grabbing one for ourselves.

Looks like it is going to piss pour rain all day tomorrow, so that will be unpleasant…but this was a free weekend, so we have to try and get it down before baby comes and consumes all of our time!

Sorry dude! Sounds like you’ll (hopefully) be back on track right at the big birthday - good luck!

Thanks @TrainForPain, although unfortunate, the timing could have been much worse!

Successfully took down the greenhouse this weekend in about 2.5-3hrs. It is ~100ft long and 26’ wide. This will be a fun little side hobby once we have a chance to put it back up, which I expect to take a lot longer…

ME Upper
Close Grip, Fat Gripz, Floor Press - figured since I can’t really use leg drive right now, this was a decent exercise selection.
135 x 5
185 x 5
225 x 3
275 x 1
315 x 1
335 x 1
345 x 1 - This was a tough rep, but happy to hit this weight.

Then I did 3 down sets:
225lbs x 8
225lbs x 8
225lbs x 8

Our gym is going through a little expansion (knocked down a wall and have nearly doubled the sqftage of the place. Walked around helping coach with some ideas on our layout, but visualizing the best layout and creating good ā€œflowā€ is definitely not a strength of mine.

The rest of the workout was just a bit of everything:
Lat Pulldowns
3" BB Curls
Banded Triceps Pushdowns
Some Chinups
Some Hanging Leg Raises

Nothing crazy, but happy to get another workout in. I’m going to go to the gym 4 days a week and just get something done. Even if I can get some banded leg curls/extensions, keep working my add/abductors, etc. Enough to keep my legs awake.

You gained weight and got more ripped. I’m so fat until I lean out I don’t have a chance at enjoying any of this.

Nice work man

Thanks Hog! Lots of room for improvement next year if I decide to run a proper cut. Appreciate the comments guys.

Dude. That is pretty much the ultimate clean bulk. You must have gained several lbs of lean mass to weigh the same while having cut a bunch of fat after 6 months. Plus, your back blew up. Awesome job.

Also, I totally missed your broken toes! I don’t remember if I posted a picture of it in my log but I broke my toe and part of my foot last November and had that exact cast. Cost me 300 bucks even with insurance, but I’m sure Canada is better about that, haha. Leaned on a friends porch, the board gave way, fell back 5 feet on my neck and my feet whipped behind me and slammed into the ground. The steel toe shoes I was wearing split my toe LONG-ways, from tip to foot and part of the metatarsal. Sucked, and healed at a weird angle, but 3 weeks later I was good to walk.

Thanks man, I appreciate it! I felt like I was working hard with an increased emphasis on accessory work, so I was hoping there would be some mass added. Diet was, meh. I was definitely loose with my food choices, but that is still eating cleaner than the majority of the population I’m sure.

Damn! Yours sounds much worse than mine… I’m only a week and a half after the break and already walking around in the Aircast relatively comfortably. It was a broken big toe (which had to be reset in the hospital, that was unpleasant), and a fractured knuckle and metatarsal apparently. This Thursday I have an appointment with the fracture clinic when I hopefully find out that everything is healing perfectly. They told me 4-6 weeks but I’m hopeful it will be even less. The boot cost me $110, so not too shabby. I’m still waiting on the bill, and will see if my insurance will cover any of it as well.

That’s good news! I was just happy that I ended up with a broken foot after landing on my neck, haha. A hamstring, glute, quad, pec, lat, trap, delt, bicep or tricep tear would all set you back far further than this nonsense.
