Man Boobs

Madds, a lot of it has to do with your body composition (as I think they mention above). What’s your BF%?[/quote]

I’ve never calculated my body fat percentage, actually. I’ll do that when I get home tonight.

I work full time and go to school, so I have 12 hour days. Weekends aren’t bad, though.

Yeah, I’ve definitely been eating better since the summer. Though I probably eat too many wheat products.

I’m pretty sure that my BF is still very high. I’m 6’1’', not very muscular, and weigh 228 lbs.

Cool, thanks for all of the help!

Oh, forgot to ask: you getting the requisite multiple meals daily? Since you have long days, I wouldn’t be surprised if you skimp a bit…

Yup, I eat every 3-4 hours.

I am losing weight, that’s not the problem. I just want to ramp things up, and the title of this topic is a serious problem of mine, which is why I was wondering if Rez-V or something else would really help that much.

No one seemed to mention this so i’ll add this to the discussion: if it’s actually gyno, as opposed to excess fat on the chest, then none of the above will REMOVE it. It could certainly help to add muscle and reduce overall bf, but if it’s gyno, then it is excess breast TISSUE and therefore cannot be burned away by diet and/or exercise. It would have to be surgically cut out.

  1. At this point should I start doing weight training as well as cardio? My intense schedule prevents me from taking out time to go to the gym, but I have a bench at home and a few sets of dumb bells–all I can afford at this time.

  2. If I do weight training, should I be taking protein powder? I’ve heard some people say that taking protein without enough weight training can result in fat gain. Total BS or not?

1-I strongly recommend you do some kind of strength training. If you don’t build a descent base of lean body mass (muscle) you will never look good without a shirt on, no matter how much weight you lose. Lack of time and equipment is no excuse. Just doing 30 minutes a day of bodyweight exercises like pullups, pushups, burpees, and jumping rope would make a huge difference. With the equipment you have you could add in bench pressing, bent over rows, deadlifts, lunges, military press. Instead of seeing limits, focus on the possibilities.

2-Protein powder is just another kind of food. You use it to fill the gaps in your diet, and for emergency situations when you don’t have time to prepare a descent meal. It has no magic properties, by which I mean the powder doesn’t know that you aren’t training and won’t turn itself into fat just to punish you. Excess calories cause fat gain.

“Weight Gainers” or “Mass Gainers” probably will cause fat gain because they are protein powder + a shit load of sugars. You don’t need the sugar so avoid that kind of product. Examine the ingredients, and only buy powders that are pure protein, like Low-Carb Metabolic Drive. To make a meal out of it, put it in a blender with a couple pieces of fruit and a table spoon of olive oil.

That’s my worst fear. But all of the males in my family have it, except some when they were skinny, so I think I might be the same.

Yes I can definitely do a lot with what I have, thanks for the encouragement. I just wasn’t sure if I should lose a lot of fat as I’ve been doing before I start weight training.

Cool, so as long as I’m still in a caloric deficit I shouldn’t worry about protein adding on fat.

About Rez-V though, do you suggest taking it or something like it?

Thanks for the help!

It’s always a good time to start weight training. It will help you lose the fat.

I wouldn’t take Rez-V or anything else, for now. Focus on building muscle and losing fat first. They say your mid-section is the first place you gain fat and the last place you lose it, so if you get rid of the belly fat, but still have the man boobs, then it would be time to give Rez-V a try. But see what proper diet and exercise can do first.

I’ll do that, thanks for all of the advice!

If you still have man boobs (and not gyno), basically you aren’t at a low enough bodyfat level yet. Get below 10% and it should be gone. Intense cardio and eating right. Lose the fat all over and once it’s gone, build up your pec muscles (especially the uppers) with weights to help fill in the loose skin that once housed fat.

Your starting weight wasn’t all that heavy, relatively speaking, so you’ll probably turn out fine with some hard work.

Wait, I shouldn’t do weights yet until I’ve lost a lot of fat?

Ok. I’ve heard both arguments and the whole loose skin thing does kind of make sense.

Sorry, I didn’t mean it to come out that way. You should start lifting weights NOW. I just meant that weights is what is going to build them back up again and fill in the lose skin.

Aah, ok thanks.
