Hey i’m think of buying Maltodextrin (taking 80 grams of it), which has a GI level of 106, after a workout, with a wheyprotein drink/whith milk for casein (50 grams total), a multi vatamine, and flax seed oil (teaspoon)… How does this sound for an after workout drink?
NO milk. NO cassein. No flax seed. Lactose is 1/2 galactose which doesn’t do anything for restoring muscle glycogen; it’s just food for the liver. Cassein is absorbed too slow to be useful for a post workout drink. Flaxseed is not a good choice due to the fact that fat slows down absorption also. What you are missing is BCAA’s. It is best to drink 1/2 the mixture either just prior to or during your training session and then the other 1/2 after. I would just use Surge, as it is much more convienient; but if you are short on money, then malto, whey, and BCAA’s are ok. Throw some glutamine and creatine in their too, and you’ll have a pretty nice pre/post workout beverage.
