I’m headed to France soon for about a month and I wont have access to a gym or my normal diet. Paris is apparently really expensive, and I dont have huge money to shell out but I want to make sure I dont lose much muscle mass.
So, I was figuring I’d just pick up some high-calorie, easily-storable food from the US to bring a long for the ride so that I wouldn’t have to pay that much while I’m there. Something like peanuts, walnuts, maybe some high calorie bars…Any idea for what I can bring along from the US that I can munch on to ensure that I dont start losing muscle mass/weight?
You won’t lose muscle mass on a long flight to and from France…and there’s food available in airports, on the flight, even the French have to eat from time to time.
You WILL lose muscle mass if you can’t lift heavy for a month.
obviously its not nearly as long as a month, but when i went on vacation over thanksgiving break i couldnt lift so i filled a backpack up with rocks and walked up and down a hill with it on my back, then tied a rope to it and ran up the hill dragging it, kind of like sled pulls. pressed the bag over my head, curled it. just get creative
Yes, I know I wont lose muscle mass while on the plane, haha. The question is what food should I bring that is high-calorie, low weight from the US? I am thinking nuts.
Eat as well as possible, do some pullups, t-pushups, and sprints once or twice a week and bring a few tins of Metabolic Drive. Groceries are available and nuts are not going to break the bank. Protein will.
Any muscle you lose can be regained within a week or two when you get back. Take it easy when you get there for a day or two and also when you get back.
If you haven’t taken time off training recently, this could be a good opportunity to take a break and a month after returning, you could be putting up PRs.
