I don’t think the ANACONDA protocol was a breakthrough, it was more ‘optimizing’ a nutritional strategy that already existed. In an Alpha Thread a while ago Bill Roberts said that the old ‘Double Surge’ protocol was like a primitive version of the ANACONDA protocol.
Where as this could be described as a breakthrough, because as far as I know, nothing like this has come before it.

Well, if I drop 4lbs of water and fat in one day I would hope I would be able to tell a difference. Usually I notice things like that. True, I should have taken measurements, and I probably should have done before and after pictures. Also, I just ran MAG-10 without Powerdrive/Alpha-GPC which may explain why I was so hungry and honestly my brain was pretty shot by the end of the night.
That said, it does seem odd for one day of any dieting to have such a profound effect, but maybe once a week for a month and I’d really see something. I ended up eating really horrible the day following (which was partly due to me finally having a day off work and being insanely hungry from the fast). The one thing I will mention is that usually when I eat crappy my energy levels tank, but yesterday it was great. Felt good all day and it may have been unrelated, but “sexual energy” was also through the roof. Am I the only one to notice this?

I’m just trying to keep in mind, there is a certain range of BF where you can lose up to 10 lbs or something and not notice anything different in the mirror. I took some pictures this morning (my first fast day) and I’ll take them once every few days or week for the next month or so to see how things turn out.
I’m trying to not let myself binge the day after the fast. That was the mistake I made on the Anabolic Diet. I was fine during the weekdays, but I used the carb loads as an excuse to eat like a fat kid lol.
I can’t say I’ll be able to notice a change in sex drive. I’m a 20 year old student at Kansas University, surrounded by 15,000+ women every day, so my sex drive is already through the roof ![]()
Tried out the fast yesterday with just MAG-10. No Power Drive or Alpha-GPC. I ended up dropping 3.5lbs and 1 inch and some change off of waist.
Hunger at night was hardcore. i also couldnt get to sleep. But i will say, once i did sleep i was OUT COLD. When i woke up the next morning i felt really good, more refreshed than usual, and not even slightly hungry. So i fasted still until around 10am. Ate oats and berries, then Surge Workout Fuel, then deadlifting around noon. Had a decent session and broke a rep PR (5/3/1
). Now as i sit here im pretty hungry.
As far as visual changes, i think i noticed some differences in abdomen (leaner).
I think i will try this once per week on a work day. I found a saturday fast to be quite hard.
I didnt do any specific weight lifting on the fast day either. I did do some extensive weeding/yardwork midday working up a good sweat.
Ive actually been intermittent fasting for a few months now, most of the week actually. So AM hour fasting was a piece of cake, cause i usually dont eat ANYTHING til 1 or 2. But once 5pm rolled around i was really hungry. I might try and get Power Drive and Alpha-GPC and see if i notice a difference (Thibs and Shugart said its way easier)

You don’t lose 3-4 lbs in one day it is at the end of the 36 hr pulse.
I saw this mentioned in the LiveSpill but, there was no real answer. Would not taking large doses of BCAA’S have the same effect? It was said that taking large amounts can cause hypoglycemia but, this can be fixed by taking it with gatorade or 1 scoop Surge Recovery. The calories would still be really low and the BCAA’S would stop catabolism. That is the reason Berardi recommends 20g on the GSD.
Also, it seems the original protocol just used MAG-10, Alpha-GPC and Power Drive were added for enegry levels and focus so, you can try it with just MAG-10 and save money. I still think it can be done with BCAA’S alone though.

as our sports (weightlifting/powerlifting) are quite similar. do you think that this fast would be a good idea for the day before a competition to make weight? (in weightlifting you have 2 hours after weigh-in to competition.
thanks

Actually, you do loose 3-4lbs in 1 day. During the fast day.

yes the majority of the weight i lost was during the last 8-10 hours (the last sleep).

I would consider it yes. Typically in powerlifting, i do a 7pm friday night weigh in, start lifting at 9am Saturday. So this is plenty of time to load up.
its probably best to do a test run a week before the meet so you know how much a 36hour pulse fast will strip off in terms of bodyweight. I was quite surprised at 3.5lbs in 36 hours. I usually go very low carb starting sunday or monday before meet weekend. I can typically strip off 7-8lbs doing low carb alone.
With that said i would experiment. Go low carb Monday - Wednesday. Thursday is pulse fast, then see how your weight is friday morning.
As far as a 2 hour weigh in, youd have to really start loading up the instant you have your weight recorded saturday morning (or whenever you lift). So in that case the fast would be thursday night - friday - til saturday morning, weight in, then slam finibars , protein, and jacked… or spike, or something equivalent. =)

So at the very last moment of the 36 hours those pounds just disappear? I’ll give you that it’s probably near the end, but wouldn’t I notice it even more if it occurred even quicker? And aren’t we splitting hairs either way?
I think my main mistake was not planning it on an appropriate day. This sort of thing would probably work better for me on a Monday. I had little control over my schedule this weekend. That said, I have looked MAYBE a little bit leaner over these past two days, and it certainly was a nice break to not have to cook anything for a whole day. I didn’t have to carry a grocery bag full of food to work either. I give it an A for convenience. And would like to try it again.
I just finished up my first pulse day, and I’m honestly not that hungry. I used only MAG-10 and a little bit of preWO stimulant I have laying around. No Alpha-GPC or Power Drive. Although, I did order those so I’ll compare it to how things go with the two added in. I had my usual cup of coffee this morning though, and I felt much more energized from it than normal. I did a neural charge workout of squats, push press, medicine ball slams, and vertical jumps. Felt fine, no energy problems really
Pretty damn tired right now though, and my roommate just made a plate of nachos, so it’s a good time to hit the hay ![]()

For breakfast today I had skirt steak, rice, and 1 small pita. Peri-workout = FINiBAR, SWF, MAG-10, Anaconda. Post-workout I had French toast with syrup, rye bread, bacon, Denver omelet, and hash browns.
So far, I would say that it is not worth spending the extra cash. But I will see how these next couple of days go with the supposed “anabolic rebound”.
IMO, it’s a big mistake doing this program just to lose fat over the course of 36 hours.
I’ve incorporated 1 MAG-10 Pulse Fast day per week and didn’t fully appreciate the effects until my second or third week.

I actually am planning the same thing. I wasn’t expecting to wake up looking ‘shredded’ or anything like that, and I still want to give it a few more runs.
Plus, it really is nice to not have to cook/eat anything for one day out of the week. Frees up a lot of time.
Would it be suitable to do one day of fasting a week for someone who is struggling with adrenal fatigue? Would it be counter productive for recovery of glands?

Both labels say MAG-10 anabolic Pulse 21.55g and protein 10g. So I still don’t understand where 30g and 19g comes from.
It’s been said in the Live Spill that fast days are best for neural charge workouts. I would say to take Saturday off, then pulse fast on Sunday and add in a neural charge session if you are able to. It’s best to have the fast on the day before a heavy session, so you can take advantage of the anabolic rebound
