MAG-10 Pulse Fast is Here

I forgot to mention, I’m utilizing the pulse fast twice a week for the next 11 weeks in attempt to lean up and win a body transformation at my local supplement store. Winner gets $500 shopping spree  I have my diet set up for other normal eating days as well. I took before pictures last Tuesday, which can be found in my training log. Check it out if you are interested in following, my diet and training are shown.

I will put the before and after photos up here when it is over. The contest ends on April 11th

Has anyone tried to sweeten their bottles with anything other than the intensified flavoring? I’m currently using the orange flavor which was rough taking down when mixed with the Power Drive and MAG-10 for bottle one, but it is a bear taking down just the flavoring and the MAG-10. I read that the MAG-10 has to flavor so I’m going to assume it is the flavoring that makes everything smell and taste so powerful. The orange flavor has 5 calories and 5mg of sodium, would I be alright if I found something similar? Xylitol?
i would suggest play with the amount of flavoring u add… i do not add much at all and enjoy it more  i tried grape first with the Power Drive and couldnt hardly finish it … just not a good combo the orange is much better… then i use grape for my next bottle mixing it up a bit helps for me to complete the fast

Anyone done the fast pulse on a workout day where you lift early in the morning?

During the week, I lift at 5am, but am thnking to just do the pulse on days off.

TIA

Yeah, definitely don’t do the fast on a regular lifting day if you have days off.

How much of the flavoring are you putting in each bottle? Whats your favorite?

Little update:

I’m scared, I’m getting lean much faster than anticipated lol. My diet/training is as follows (been doing this for maybe 3 weeks now):

Saturday: Off day or neural charge session (pulse fast)
Sunday: Upper Body Pressing (3,000 cals high protein, moderate fat, low carbs)
Monday: Same as Sunday
Tuesday: Off day or neural charge session (pulse fast)
Wednesday: Lower Body Pressing (3,000 cals higher carbs, high protein, lower fat)
Thursday: Lower Body Pressing (3,000 cals high protein, mod-high fat, low carb)
Friday: Back and Biceps (3,000 cals high protein, mod-high fat, low carb)

This is CT’s new HP Mass program. I’m doing no cardio, except if you count the eccentric-less training as cardio (which I would, it SUCKS lol). I’ve dropped maybe 5 pounds, and am feeling much leaner. I can tell a huge difference with the lower stomach pinch test. I’m doing this for a 12 week transformation contest at my local supplement store ($500 for 1st place) so I have less than 10 weeks left now (ends April 11th). I may throw up progress pics in another week or so, but I will definitely put the before/after photos up.

I change it up a lot. For the first bottle (with Power Drive) I always use Orange. But for the 2nd bottle without Power Drive, I change it. Either plain 2 caps of Grape, 1 cap Grape + 1 cap Cherry, or 1 cap Cherry + 1 cap Orange (I’m drinking this right now  ).

Also, I like to use more water than recommended. For instance, I’m doing a fast today, but I’ve split my 2nd half of pulses in to two bottles. I have pulses in 1,600 mL water, and then will have the last two pulses in 1,600 mL water. I only use 1.5 caps of flavoring when I do this, though.

I did the fast this past wednesday. It went well.

Anyone want to give me the cliffnotes for this thread? Thumbs up for the most part?

I already have the MAG-10. Just waiting for the right day to have a go at it.

I’ve used pulse fasts with decent success, trying pulse feasting at the moment. I’m toying with the idea of having a pulse fast day once per week while pulse feasting but struggling to think of an optimal way to do this. I considered this, assuming I fast on a wednesday:

Tuesday: Pulse feast, eat between 9pm-12am (2 hours later than usual)
Wednesday: Pulse fast
Thursday: Pulse feast, train at midday with Anaconda, MAG-10 and SWF, eat at 7 as normal.

Although I essentially don’t eat for nearly 48 hours the pulse fast, as it is defined, still lasts for 36 hours - ending officially when I train.

Thoughts?

Good thread lots of info.
I think I have decent grasp of the fast but I see no references to a prescribed or recommended training protocol.

Any help?

I am 49 and I have done the pulse fast twice. The first time, the day of the pulse, I felt pretty good, not too hungry, but the next day, I was very tired and my workout was not very good. I have been on a very low carb diet.

The second pulse, the day of I felt hungry and actually had a bit of a gut ache. I used the orange flavoring and by the end of the day I was very sick of orange. However, I increased carbs the day after, not by a whole lot, just some extra fruit and veggies and I felt much better.

I always think that these plans are designed for 25 year old bodybuilders, not 50 year old desk jockey’s. Learning as I go.

I used 3 for each bottle (orange) and it was too much. I think 2, especially with the bottle with Power Drive.

What is the deal with people wanting before and after pics so bad? To prove this protocol works? Hell, you could eat nothing but peas for the next three weeks and lose weight and prove the protocol works by posting before and after pics and toot about your success being on the “All Pea” diet.

For those of you trying to prove or disprove the effectiveness of the protocol by looking for pic evidence are missing the point of this protocol entirely.

I’ve done approximately 8 fasts over the last 4 weeks (2Xwk on non-lifting days). I’ve noticed a lot of things that I like. First, this is the most tolerable fast I’ve ever undertaken. I tried the Velocity Diet before and was absolutely miserable and lost too much muscle and strength along the way. With the Mag10 Pulse Fast, other than a few times during the day where I really feel hungry, my general disposition and attitude are much better on this protocol.

Two, I’ve lost about 5 pounds of scale weight but that stat alone is misleading. The real kicker is that I have recomped by body and I’m not only visibly leaner but visibly bigger. I really attribute this to re-calibrating my insulin sensitivity to carbs the following three days.

Third, this is the first time I’ve lost an appreciable amount of bodyfat and weight and my strength is increasing in the gym. I have never been able to successfully do this before. Before I would always end up over-relying on cardio cuz I could never stay strict enough on the diet plan. This protocol makes it easier for me to really impact the diet side of the equation so I don’t have to overly rely on cardio to lose bodyfat. The result is that not only am I keeping all of my muscle and strength but actually increasing it while losing said bodyfat.

Those of you looking to disprove it will easily find your reasons why it won’t work. Especially those of you who haven’t even tried it. And those who have tried it and are disappointed after not seeing “ripped results” after 36 hours are just plain ignorant. And for those of you who can “fast” on less expensive ingredients, more power to you. I have tried other methods and I simply couldn’t do them successfully. This is the first one I’ve tried that is not overly difficult for me to do.

@randman:

Couldn’t have put it any better!

Did 3 fasts so far, and so far, so good.

I should state that I don’t even think it’s been 8 fasts, probably more like 6. And a couple of those were Pulse Feasts. And it’s not like I’m focused on fat loss as of yet where I have everything dialed in. So what I’m saying is that this protocol has been pretty effective even without being tight on the diet on the off-days from the Pulse Fast and a couple of those have been Pulse Feasts.

It’s like you re-establish your relationship/response to carbohydrates after doing a PF. It’s like changing out your spark plugs in your engine. Everything just responds better. This is a welcome protocol whether bulking or cutting. In the past, I’ve put on too much fat because I believe I ate too many carbs (simple carbs, complex carbs, etc) for too long without a break which eventually tips the scales towards fat gain more than muscle gain as I continue along a bulk. This protocol resets my insulin sensitivity whilst bulking or cutting. It’s also blows up a perception I’ve been carrying that I NEED to keep eating a large amount while bulking or I’ll lose my muscle gaining edge. After doing this a few times I now have concluded that is baloney.
randman wrote:

I’d like to second this statement.

The pulse fast has given me a HUGE psychological edge when it comes to diet (gaining or cutting). Before, I would almost flip out if I were somewhere when it was time for a planned meal and I knew I would miss it or be late eating. Now, I honestly don’t give a crap if I miss a meal/pulse lol. I don’t care if my results are slightly diminished from missing a meal or something, it’s nothing to freak out about. Bodybuilding is a marathon, not a sprint. Staying consistent is key to making progress, and missing or being late with a meal here and there isn’t going to strip away everything you’ve worked for

I don’t know if it’s just me, but while pulse fasting I feel REALLY good sometimes, almost like I’m on drugs…It’s a bummer not being able to eat at first, but the more I do it, the more I like it. I think pulse feasting will be my way to lean down, and I look forward to it!

Just my 2 cents:

I think pulse FASTing is the way to go. It saves money (in terms of overall CH used), and you’re not really dieting on normal eating days. I have it set up to pulse fast 2 days a week, and eat at maintenance (or slightly above) every other day. So only two days of the week I worry about “dieting”, and it’s not even hard to do so.

And yes, I also feel the “happy good feeling” you speak of sometimes lol
