I didn’t know this thread was going on until a guy on here tracked me down and told me.
I still lurk here on a occasion when I get the time following the study/articles done by Bret using EMG. I’m a big believer in applying proven science and experience to my training and nutrition. Its the reason I spend the bulk of my time talking with Alan Aragon (one of the few people who’s more of a geek on this stuff than I am)on a daily basis and perusing his site for the latest on research (his AARR) on nutrition and training. He was responsible in adding the final piece to the puzzle for me—getting me to my present condition. Since then I have been fortunate in the sense that I’m appearing in 10 different magazines.
I did my first bodybuilding show NPC california state championships and came in 2nd (It would have helped if I had practiced my posing more than two days before the show). The first show I did before that was a fitness modeling show. I was told I was too muscular. Any The most eye opening aspect of my first bodybuilding show was two participants openly talking about their use of steroids in the pump up room. I thought to myself man, they must think everybody uses if they are that comfortable talking about it in the open.
In a nutshell my training style, philosophies and work ethic coupled with Alan’s VAST knowledge is responsible for my present condition --the final piece to the puzzle I started years ago. My goal now is to duplicate this process to as many people as I can.

Titan you said your goal now is to duplicate this process to as many people as you can. Does this mean you are a trainer or you have a website or something?
@ King most definitely guy!
@ Way I MIGHT do the show in Toronto on sept 18th WBFF worlds, if I get sponsored its a definite. If I don’t its tentative.
@Octgirl I’m thinking more along the lines of a website. Although, I will not rule out personal training since I have done it in the past.

No offense…but be yourself. You have different genetics and already outweigh him. I outweigh all of you fuckers though, LOL.
I’ll be joining the black guy ab brigade soon enough. I keep forgetting to pay my dues.
To Madtitan, I hope all is well…and that you keep in contact.

D, The nutrition scheme I described in simply shredded is what I used to stay lean year round. This is separate from I used for my comp and current pics -that Alan was responsible for. I am about around 5.5-6 percent year round. The high carb days are my intense days in the gym which is Leg days (twice a week) and back/shoulder days (also twice per week) . Those days, I carb up the entire day (the last carbs being right after the workout). All other days I have carbs with my first two meals and that’s it. Based on everything I have learned, I am going to tweak this more .
My scheme for training hasn’t change its still 5 x5 and 4 x8 (I alternate between those two frequently). Occasionally, I will go above 10 during a two week period. Legs typically fall around 10,12 or 15. I will have a two week period where I go 10 x 10 on squat/leg press which seem to be helping legs a bit [/quote]
Thank you for taking the time to explain that!

Pfft, I’ve got at least 15 pounds on you.
And that statement ^ is not misleading at all, seeing as how I’m only 7 inches taller.

Lol, that was more of a statement of admiration than anything else, fat man!
Hey when you go to your girlfriends house, does her kid say this when you ring the bell?

Oh, it’s all fun and games until someone asks you to bench 400lbs, huh?
You’re only that much leaner than me because it takes most of those calories to feed those long ass arms.
Your arms are so long that when you do pushups, you pass put from lack of oxygen.
Where are we going with this?

Nice hat, geek?

Hey Titan I’ve heard of the Girth Control book before…I was wondering is it a lot of science in the book disecting things and what happens in the body when putting the fats protein and carbs in the body…or is there a lot of practical advice that can be used to fix your own diet to your personal needs?
Thanks!
Its both, anyone who reads the book will come away knowing how to design their nutrition program properly. I know I did

Wow, I can’t believe you can manage to stay around 6% year round? Great work btw!
So what would you tweak with your carb cycling/cut offs, or is that highly classified? lol
I haven’t decided yet. I’m still working on it.
Please tell me it’s a lie that you don’t do direct arm training! crosses fingers
^^blasphemy!!
MT, Awesome physique. Keeping that BF% year round is pretty amazing. I would love to se an example workout for you over the course of one week. Just to see how you are doing your pairings, supersets, etc. Great Job Man!!
Waylander----- you can add direct ab work to that list, but let me clarify. I went a year and some change without doing any direct arm work . The interesting fact is my arms got stronger and bigger, the number went up on every bicep exercise especially barbell curls and preacher curls. This validates what Bret’s work with EMG.
The thing to keep in mind is I do multiple variations of weighted pull ups/chin-ups twice a week for back (I don’t touch machines). The total amount of reps have gone up to 200 at times on the days that I have gone mad. There were no improvement on triceps which is the main reason I went back to direct arm work. I still don’t spend an inordinate amount of time on them like some seem to do. I usually do 3 exercises 3 sets on them, now and again I do 4 sets. Triceps I spend more time on .
Mateus --I just tweaked my workouts 2 or so weeks ago which one do you want?
Awesome inspirational thread! Mad Titan, thanks for posting.

I doesn’t really matter, unless you think it does. Just curious to see what you have found to be successful for you. Lets go with the setup that you had before you tweaked it. Thanks man!

I just caught this article on EliteFTS the other day about a completely different approach to carb cycling; found it thought provoking. I’d like to see what you think of it in light of being a science and nutrition geek at your level!

@ Ds Anytime!
@ Jc I don’t think there’s any harm in taking carbs before a workout since its pretty much going to be used to fuel the workout. The mistake people make is taking it too close to their workout and taking in too much. The bigger picture is having an effective workout so I carb up before an intense workout usually 60-90 minutes before.
