The concept of “toxic people” was popularized by Dr. Lillian Glass in her book by the same name. I read the book at the recommendation of Biotest head honcho Tim Patterson. Although it was pretty heavy on “pop” psychology, it was pretty darned interesting.
A toxic person is basically anyone who holds you back, cuts you down, makes you experience any number of negative emotions on a regular basis, and generally causes you to feel like a piece of toilet paper, and not that nice triple-quilted stuff either. A toxic person can be a friend, a co-worker, a family member, and even a girlfriend or spouse.
Dr. Glass outlines 30 different types of toxic people in the book, including The Mental Case, The Fanatic, The Accusing Critic, The Instigator, The Opportunistic User, and the ever popular Smiling Two-Faced Backstabber. No wonder Bossman Patterson recommended the book: the bodybuilding and supplement industry is a breeding ground for these wackjobs!
gotta agree with comixguy. X is only selecting 1 line out of the OP post.
from the original post:

It seems like today if you eat healthy food then you are a not being a man and if you get a bunch of fried big ass burgers or w/e then you’re being manly.
OP was clear, in some situation, not only the example, people order unhealthy and he does not and people make fun. Not about bulking or cutting, but all about eating healthy and people making fun.
…and both and Comixguy are wrong. There are very few frequently eaten foods on the planet that are innately “UNhealthy” in and of themselves. A Burger is not. It all comes down to what is on it and in it. A steak Hoagie is NOT fried. Mashed potatoes are NOT fried. There is such a thing as eating for a goal…like dieting so you eat less calories.
However, simply picking random foods and labeling them “UNhealthy” simply because you think green beans are better makes little sense.
Half of what he described was NOT unhealthy at all which means anyone watching him make an issue of what he eats is going to be looking for a reason. That takes us right back to looking the fucking part, whether you be a bodybuilder or a supermodel.
I guess OP should have written the title as: “Made Fun of For Eating Healthier”.
I bust out my tub of cottage cheese every night after work while I’m waiting on my cash. I work with some rough mofo’s, I got a few jokes the first time or two I was eating it, but now they are more curious about why I eat the way I do instead of giving me shit about it.
Being made fun of for what you eat is one of those things that stops once you get bigger than most people, just keep plugging away bud.

People who have known me for years already know that I eat differently than them. They may joke about how I will probably be drinking protein shakes on ThanksGiving but they sure as hell aren’t surprised by what I order when we go out. Why? Because I’ve been that way as long as they’ve known me and I don’t act like a dick to them about how they eat.

did you really have a protein shake on thanksgiving? Well you probably did, I worked on on thanksgiving so I had my protein shake. Didnt occur to me that it would be weird.

Naw, I didn’t…but they are used to me bringing protein shakes with me all of the time when I show up. They really don’t fuck with me anymore but they used to years back. Now, I think they see what I am trying to do so they are actually pretty supportive.

Your name looked like “scrotum” to me at first glance lol. No offense.

I was wondering if the same happens to anyone else:
You’re eating something healthy and all your friends get a bunch fried food and call you a pussy for not getting something like that.
Or right after you order something healthy they all start laughing and making fun of you.
For example, I was at eat-n-park, a local restaurant, last night and everyone orders before me. They get 2 burgers, steak hoagie, fries, mashed potatoes, and cheese sticks. I then order to the waiter 2 rosemary chicken breasts with green beans. They all began to laugh and then even the gay waiter says something.
He said: “So your friends ordered something that you eat and go to a bar to watch football after and you ordered something along the lines of eating then going to clean/organize your room after.” It actually kind of pissed me off just because it is getting old and annoying, but it also just motivates me more.
It seems like today if you eat healthy food then you are a not being a man and if you get a bunch of fried big ass burgers or w/e then you’re being manly. It kind of reminded me of that article I read a couple days ago about manly traits and also reminded me of those burger king commercials.
How about you guys?
Never to me. They probably wouldn’t if you were bigger than them
If you are eating for mass gain, there isn’t anything wrong with burgers, steak hoagies or mashed potatoes. cheese sticks and fries aren’t exactly ‘‘good’’, but as long as the burgers aren’t drowned in mayo or something good way to get a lot of protein and calories in. Hard to eat enough calories to grow off just 2 chicken breasts and green beans.

Why does ‘mayo’ get such a bad rap? Good mayonnaise is oil, eggs, and vinegar. The oil usually canola or soybean oil and I’ve seen Olive Oil mayo.
If someone is looking for extra calories, why not some mayo?
Ah. crap. I was originally gonna say “Scrotum’s right” and that’s it, but then I changed it. Should’ve went with my first choice.

well you’ve been doing this longer than me but most people are ok with what I eat and drink as long as I’m not pushing it onto them and trying to make them drink some (few people can withstand non-flavored whey protein shakes)
I just came across this today on Pauline Nordin’s Fighter Diet blog.
Its really good and totally applies here. The BOTTOM PARAGRAPH is where its at but I didnt feel right just leaving the rest out.

Traveling and sticking to a diet

I never adopted the cooler trend where every fitness chick carries her little box to keep chicken breasts fresh during travel. To me it´s a hassle to use it and honestly I prefer to be lazier than pre cook food. This is what I do on the road:
* Always research the internet before you go. Where are the grocery stores? Gyms? Health food stores? The more you know the better prepared for the trip you´ll be.
* Call the hotel you are staying at and request a microwave to the room. They do have them, they just prefer not to flaunt them since they want people to eat their expensive food.
* Be ready for some days with less veggies than usual. It sucks because you will get hungrier, but that is where the canned veggies come in handy! every gas station has some kind of green beans in a can!
* Carrots and cabbage in bags travel surprisingly well in luggage! And so does mustard.
* Always bring a big plastic bowl, fork and whatever you need so you can eat at the hotel room without having to ask them bring a plate which will be too small for your portion anyway.
* Always bring protein powders and wheat bran. Worst case scenario you will live off this for the days on the road. You gotta do what you gotta do right!
* Prepare for the munchies. They are always staying at hotels. So bring your favorite tea, sugar free chewing gum, crystal light, diet coke etc.
* Pack canned pink salmon, salmon jerky.
When you travel you will need to compromise. If you know you cannot resist giving in to temptations if you get hungry, please please bring that cooler with you. I would never eat anything if it was not “perfect”, I rather go with nothing than something I wouldn´t consider to be top of the top food… ON the other hand I trust myself that I can go hungry for long time and not succumb to the temptations. It was not always like that though. I practiced!
If you eat at restaurants, ASK exactly for what you want. Be a pain in the ass. They CAN bring you stuff, they are just ignorant if they don´t. Feeling embarrassed about it because your body cannot visually back up your extreme diet philosophy yet? well, tell them you are allergic to oils, dressings and whatever you don´t want! ,-)
Actually I’m surprised at the waiter making comments if he truly was gay. I would have thought he would be more empathetic towards someone making strong individual choices. After all, I bet he was picked on for his sexuality.

I’m even more suprised that the waiter would be that discourteous to a paying customer. You’d think that most people would value their jobs over a few minutes of ball-busting. Even if they were totally inept, the idea of getting canned would be enough to make them check themselves.
