I’ll do a full report later, but this was not a good meet…too much weight loss and not enough training these last couple weeks, but I still hit a 435 dead, for a 10# pr.

Thanks guys, I was being hard on myself at first, but my wife talked some sense in to me, hehe. Yeah, I did drop 17 pounds in 5 days (10 being in 1 day) and then stuffed myself full of water and food to get back up to 210. Energy was lacking though, all day, and I couldn’t get psyched up for shit. Only got in the “zone” getting ready for my second and third deadlift attempts, which was good. Here’s how it all went down…

Tech meeting at 9:30, started and ran late, was 10:30 when we got done in there (instead of 10). Lifting took forever to get started, and when they did it was kids first. Having everyone lift on the same day really slows things down, but whatever. I don’t think I did my first squat attempt until noon. First attempt was 260ish (kg’s used, and I don’t remember what it was exactly. 265ish even?) 2 reds and a white, depth. WHAT?! I was shocked, really. Then I heard from some of the guys that I was sky high, like…6" high or some shit. haha, fml. Well, fuck…let’s up it a tad, 270. Nailed it, felt heavy, but smooth. I thought, lets go 295 on the third attempt, at least I’m in the meet now, so failing won’t bother me. Well, I got a few inches out of the bottom and stuck. dealwithit.jpg

Bench warmups sucked and felt heavy as piss. Bench was on tile in the warmup area, so feet were slipping all over. I tried to lower my attempt back to like 215 so I could smoke it, but couldn’t find the person I needed to talk to. This meet wasn’t run very well I’d say, I was kinda pissed at times. Fuck it, I’ll try a 225 single, and go with my same opener of 230. 225 was rough but got it, fuck it, let me at my bench attempt. The liftoff was smooth, down, pause…pause…PRESS, LWI, 3 whites. Whew! 235 for the second, to take it easy, 3 whites. Now, both of these lifts got props from the head judge regarding technique. “Textbook” he told me, which was awesome to hear from him, considering he’s the same guy that told me my form was horrid and I had to stop doing what I was doing, at my last meet. Score! So, went for 250 on the 3rd, didn’t happen. Oh well, I’m just here to have fun anyway at this point, and my energy level was draining fast.

Almost fell asleep waiting for deads, because it took so long to get to that point. Warmups were alright, heavy though of course. Dehydrating myself the night before, and holding that condition all day fucked me, and I know that. Next time, the 198 class can blow me, 220 FTW. Haha. Anyway, 395 opener, 3 whites. 420 for the second attempt…3 whites, I debated going 450 just to try it out, but I think i would have given myself and anuerism doing that, so I went with 435. Grinder and a half, but I got all whites. I know that lift is on video, I just need to get it uploaded. Not sure what other lifts my wife got on video, it was busy and cramped as hell in this place, but I’ll share whatever she did get.

There’s a meet in october that I’m being pressured about from a friend of mine, so I’ll either go and just handle him for it, or I’ll compete. I think if I actually trained consistently (providing I can get my home gym to a more awesome level) I’d be able to SFW and hit some better PRs, being hydrated and all that. We’ll see though. For now, I gotta recover from Saturday, and I’m exhausted and sore from my neck to my calves today so I’ll probably do nothing all week. Maybe :wink:

  1. I’m working on it man, one class at a time, 2 meets in each (min) for apples-apples comparison of awesomeness levels. And then the “gear” issue, it takes time man. Not everyone can get a 1715 total first shot, DICK!

I forgot to mention, they had a deadlift bar used for squats. Bendy, killer knurling, super whippy bar…for squats. Hard to get set up right!

The spotters on bench, when the kids were benching, were not paying attention. One girl did a JM press straight into her throat, which could have easily been stopped. Then they let her attempt it again. Stupid, it looked like “Elbows unlocked…BAM” right into her stomach the second time. Parents, if you want your kids to get into a sport, SHOW THEM HOW TO FUCKING DO IT PROPERLY, YOU FUCKING MORON! To say I was pissed is an understatement. Can’t wait for my girls to get in there and wreck the OPEN division at like, 8 years old, haha.

Side note: Oldest started Kindergarten today! Damn they grow up quick, lol
