Luke Cage?

I’m glad they are going for a real down and dirty R-rated film. I am sick to death of these superhero movies that are all fairy floss and candy canes. I’m looking forward to this. I remember reading the Heros for Hire comics as a wee-lad, and I always thought they were great.

I hope this movie is full of a bit of the old ultra-violence…

Prof, good drawing but whoever pictured Wolverine that way should be shot with a loadful of scrap metal…several times.[/quote]

LOL. I agree, man. I looked for a better pic online but couldn’t find one. I was too lazy to hook up my scanner just for this to show more accurately. Maybe after I train.

Here’s a pic of Tyrese clowning around with my wife this past July 2005. I think he’s bigger here than he was in 2F2F and he’s probably even bigger now. He told me he’d been training hard.

If Cage is supposed to be older what about Denis Haysbert? Though he may be too old…

Prof X, you said you hated shaft did you mean the original with Richard Roundtree or the version with Samuel Jackson?

From the picture of out of the comic book, it looks like Cage held some serious size.

You need a guy like Carl Weathers (when he was young, obviously), or, as was suggested, 50 Cent’s size.

I’m not saying Tyrese couldn’t get that big. But to be that big takes a shitload of dedication…I don’t know if Tyrese could pull that off.

And I was impressed with his acting in Fast/Furious 2. He was the only good thing out of that movie.

I agree with that. His acting is the only reason I watched that movie all of the way through.

50 cent. We need someone that can act.

Richard Roundtree’s Shaft can pretty much qualify as a classic performance considering the trend it set during the time period it came out. I am pretty sure that speaking negatively of it causes members of The Black Panthers to magically pop out of thin air and whoop your ass into submission.

While I like Samuel L. in just about everything he does, that one movie just didn’t do it. There was so much potential, but it just fell flat. I don’t know what it was. Maybe it was the story line or a lack the right amount of violence. I know the guy that played the main villain in that movie acted his ass off. He is the only reason worth watching it.

Here’s a more accurate pic of what he and the rest of The Avengers look like lately. Clearly, there won’t be any chains and arm bands.

Tyrese is about the same height as 50 cent (and Brad Pitt, by the way). They’re about 6’ give or take an inch. And fifty isn’t very lean so it’s not like he has so much more muscle than Gibson.

Now Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman is a pretty damn good Wolverine. Is he as muscular as the Wolverine in the comics? Hell no, not even close. Did that ruin it? Nope. Well he’s also tall and a decent actor which only improved the films.

Comic books exaturate on the musculature because it’s easier for the artist to make the drawings look like an anatomy class or display great physiques to make super heroes look…well, ‘super’. But on film it’s a completely different story.

Tyrese will do just fine if he gains a bit more mass. If only muscle size was the only thing that could go wrong in a movie. Who knows when there will be another Schwarznegger but so far the Cock and Bin Weasel haven’t done a very good job at promoting muscle in film. Because one can’t get over is eyebrow expression and the other talks like a ghetto version of Keanu Reeves…on amphetamines.

A guy who’s 20lb short on muscle but knows how to act will make a superb flick but a hulking dumbass who looks exactly like the superhero will ruin it for everyone. And that’s assuming Ty won’t be muscular enough, which he definitely seems to be capable of. He’s the guy.

Rant Out

I don’t know if he can act(he does have a few movie to his credit though), but Tyson Beckford seems a better fit for the part physically. He seems to have gotten more jacked since his modeling days.

Jamal Duff would be ideal in my opinion.

Probably can’t act, but Bob Sapp looks more the part than all the dudes mentioned so far.

If Christian Bale can go through drastic physique changes, why do you think Tyrese can’t?

batman is far smaller than luke cage

i dont even think tyrese is a bad actor, like some others, but i dont like him as cage

michale duncan(sp) would be good,i just feel like it may be a little trite

but he is a good actor, and large enough

Not that this has to do with the original topic but Batman was only smaller back when the first comics with Luke Cage came out. Have you read any of the recent Batman comics? Think Jim Lee, Michael Turner etc. He is f’ing huge now.

Did anyone notice how Snipes ‘suddenly’ disappeared when Blade 3 came out? He didn’t even want to promote it and was/is shying away because he knows it’s a shitty flick.

I really liked Blade 3 but it was basicly because of Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds. Snipes is like a broken record in the Blade series and showed all he had to offer in the first movie. He was very anonymous in the 3rd movie compared to Biel and Reynolds.

Only because the artists in question are only capable of drawing two or three types of physique, at best.

I agree the types are quite similar but not the proportions. Lee still draws a scrawny Robin, Nightwing, Joker etc.

Except for the whole “He’s too cute” arguement, which I do agree with, I think he could play the role well.

In terms of bulking I think he should be able to gain a good amount of muscle before the movie in order to play the part. As Prof mentioned, Christian Bale managed this more than successfully, from weighing 121lbs in The Machinist to weighing 200lbs for Batman Begins and all in a short space of time. I personally was pretty fucking amazed at his physique change! Still am.

I’ve attached the image, the link though (if yo ucan’t see it well) is: http://dialbforblog.com/archives/39/

Uhm, let me try again…

EDIT: Ok forget the image, just click on the link…

I liked Reynolds in that. Biel did NOT pull off the tough cute little girl act very well even though she looked good while doing it. Once Blade becomes a guest star in his own movie, I start wondering why I bought tickets.
