Why is it that low carbs are such a mandate if you want to lose weight? One idea I have heard is that they(carbs) lower T3 levels. Is there any truth to this? And lastly, if this is true, would including a small amount of T3 while dieting(12.5-25 mcg) take away the need to drop carbs to insanely low levels? Thanks in advance.
The short answer is carb deprivation shifts the bodies metabolism from burning glucose (carbs) as the fuel of choice to burning fat as the fuel of choice due to necessity. If the body has no glucose (carbs) available to use for energy, it by default has to burn fat for energy. Carb deprivation turns you from a carb burner to a fat butning machine.
