Low Back Torque w/ Kroc Rows?

I’ve tried them several times recently, was inspired by the article yesterday, but honestly when I put any english on the row it feels like I’m going to snap my lower back in half…any tips on how to improve this?

Do them with one hand resting on a bench for balance. Like how he does them in the 300x12 video. Will eliminate a lot of the lower back torque, and also probably let you use more weight.

Sounds like you’re doing too much weight to me.

Yes, it is possible, even with “Kroc Rows.”

IMO its down to foot stance. I prefer to line up with a bench directly in front of me and post off the non working arm with both legs just outside shoulder width and not staggered. It limits the amount of weight I can use somewhat, but makes sure my hips dont get all out of whack, which has given me low back issues doing these before.

When I was doing them religiously a couple of years ago, I would rest my elbow just above my knee and pull with the other arm.

Hmm…well the last thing I need is wider hips. Not sure if it’s an issue of too much weight. My gym only goes up to 120 lbs. dbs, and I can do db rows with strict form in sets of 8 or so. I tried the 100s for a set of 20 using Kroc Rows on Monday; I rested a knee and a hand on a bench, which I also do on DB Rows. Felt like I was going to snap my spine in half doing them. I’m going to try getting my foot that’s on the floor out wider maybe

THIS! there is a knack, and if you get it right, your abs will feel like they’re taking all the weight, not your lower back

I bet the bench you are using is too high. stand perpendicular to it instead, with only one hand on it and feet shoulder width apart

That’s bad news.

Coconut oil cures everything. I read it right here in these forums.

It is the answer to all ills in the body and society.

Are you allergic to foam?

So, instead of contributing something useful to what started out as an interesting discussion, you chose to open the door for yet another shit storm in the bodybuilding forum.

This shit is tired.
